Castiel's POV
It had been a long day. A very long day. One which had started off with with my coffee maker breaking at five in the morning. Then I had to leave my house early, so I could buy a coffee from the cute little shop down the street. Then I spilled that coffee all over myself after running into the door on the way out. Then I had to run home and change my clothes. Which of course made me late for work. Meaning that my boss was pissy with me for the rest of the day, causing him to make me stay late to work on some extra paperwork. Which leads to me now. Walking home because the company had my car towed, because in my rush to get to work I forgot my parking pass. Now I'm walking home, in the rain, alone.
It had been the worst day of my entire life. After an almost half hour long trudge back to my small apartment I couldn't think of any way this day could get worse. That is until I walked up five flights of stair because the elevator was down and saw the door to my apartment cracked open. Fuck.
I dropped my briefcase and soaked trench-coat by the elevator and tip-toed down the hall. I definitely remember shutting the door this morning. And Charlie wasn't planning on coming over. No way Gabriel would have randomly shown up. The only thought left was that I was being robbed.
I slowly pushed the door open hoping whoever it was was already long gone. But, of course, they weren't. And it definitely didn't help that I tripped on that stupid raised doormat on my way in and fell directly on my face.
I didn't move. Because whoever was currently robbing me was walking my in my direction. I could hear their pounding footsteps getting closer. I was hoping they would just think I was dead or something.
But no. Instead the intruder landed a hard kick to my ribs, "Get up." His voice was gravely. Like you'd expect.
I heard the click of a gun and knew I was really in trouble this time. I raised my hands off the floor first, letting him know I wouldn't try anything. Then I slowly rose off the ground, keeping my head down. I grunted as I stood from the pain in my ribs, but I didn't dare complain about it.
"Take what you want just don't hurt me!" I squeaked out.
Then a hard slap was delivered to my left cheek snapping my head to the side. "Look at me when you talk, coward."
What kind of robbery was this? Don't they usually just take whatever and leave. No hostages, right?
I slowly picked my head up to look the intruder in the eyes. He looked cocky and full of rage. That is until he caught a glimpse of my face.
He took a step away from me and fumbled to put his gun away. Fear and regret ran through his features and he continued to back away from me. "Shit," he ran his large beefy hands through his hair. "God, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I didn't mean it. None of it. Look I'll even leave all your stuff. No harm done, okay?"
What kind of robbery was this?
He pulled a few rolls of cash out of his pocket. "Here you can even have this." He set it gently on the counter top and put his hands up. "See, no harm, no need to tell anyone or anything." I could see a layer of sweat forming on his already greasy face. "I'll go now, just remember nothing happened."
"What..." That was all I could say. What kind of robber leaves more than he takes?
The man, with his hands still up, moved to get around me. He kept a distance, as if he didn't want to get to close to me. Then he just left.
I looked around my empty apartment, "What in the hell just happened?"
