Y/N POV

It had been a week since you joined Rainbow and people were not warming up to you. The yelled things like murderer and psychopath. You ignored these comments and spent most of your time with Megan. "You really should tell them why you did all those things." She said trying to persuade you. In the week you had told her of the details of your life. She was the only one you had trusted in a long time.

"Will operators Doc, Valkyrie, Pulse and Montage meet in the briefing room." Six ordered over the intercom. After they left for the mission she called you down. "You will be providing over watch to the mission. The reason I didn't call you down with the others is because they don't trust you." She said as she handed you a file. A family was being held hostage in a small cottage. "On it." You said standing up. "You should tell them about your past before it's to late." She added. She was the only other living person that knew what had happened. You just grunt as you close the door.

Slowly creeping down the hall you see the hostage. A white mask jumped out from behind the door with a knife. You grab his arm and turn it into his stomach. He collapsed on the floor. You upholster your side arm and let a single shot through his head. You approach the unconscious hostage. Blood trickled down her forehead and cheek. You pick her up firefighter style and carry her out the door. On your way out you run into the rest of your team. "Get her to the paramedics." You said placing her in pulses arms. "My. Daughter." She said before faded into unconsciousness again. You turn back to the building.

"I'm going back in." You tell the team. Still confused at why you were there you rush back in. As you enter the basement a man holding a little girl points the gun at her head. "Drop your weapon." He barked at you. Slowly you lower the AR-14 in your hands. "Now kick it over." He ordered. You place your foot on it and shove the weapon towards the White Mask. "It's going to be fine." You assure the little girl. The man bent down to pick up the weapon. Huge mistake. He realizes this as you pull out your side arm and empty it. The girl still had her eyes closed. "It's okay. The bad men are gone now." You said as the girl hugged you. "Let's go see your mommy, okay." You said taking her hand.

You calmly walk out of the building. The girl immediately ran to the now conscious mother. "Mom!" She yelled running into her open arms. She looked up and mouthed a thank you. You just nod. A smile hidden behind your mask. Before you could follow your team to the chopper she stopped you. "Thank you for saving my daughter." She said. "No parent would have to bury their child." You respond placing a hand on her shoulder. "W-what should I call you?" She asked. "The names Flatline." You respond calmly. "Like the mercenary." She asked. "Not like, the one and only." You respond. "You aren't a villain, You have saved so many lives. I don't care what they say on the news, thank you." She said hugging you. "No, thank you. Nobody has ever said such nice things to me before." You said smiling. "Thank you mister." The girl said hugging your waist. "No problem kiddo. Here some thing for you to remember me by." You said removing a single bullet from your sidearm and hand to the girl. "Thank you." She said as you got in the chopper. You wave as to the child as you took off.

Back at the base everyone was congratulating each other on a job well done. You just watch from the side of room. "Well aren't you a hero." Megan said from next to you. "I'm going to go wash up." You said stepping out of the room. The image of the girl and mother lingered in your head. Turning on the water you embrace the heat. The warmth covered your skin. You just stand there letting the water run over your body.
