In the forest

"Damn it!"

The cursing sound of a fairly handsome boy, 17 years old to be more specific, echoed through the deep cave. It was pouring rain outside, and all of the wood this boy brought into the cave were soaking wet. After plenty attempts to dry those wooden sticks and light a small fire, Bron - his name - gave up. He sighed a long upsetting sign and lied down next to his false excuse of a fire.

Lucky for him, the heavy rain outside occurred in the middle of the day, so after an hour of drumming onto the ground, the rain started to fade away, the sky became brighter, and eventually sunny.

Bron stepped out of the cage and looked at the sky. This is not the first time he saw these rays of natural light. His first time was about a month ago, when he left his dark kingdom to pursue his family's goal. That was to find a way to make the Sun shine again on his land, after two hundred years living in utterly darkness.

Bron Montgomery, Third Prince of the Third Realm, son of the deceased King Everett and Queen Gemma Montgomery, brother of present King Luther Montgomery, was on a two hundred year old family mission.

The last month was an exciting adventure for Bron. Born inside darkness, the young prince could not help being amazed when the first light danced on his skin right after he left the Third Realm. Exciting as it seemed, it was also a tedious and unsuccessful journey, because he has traveled pass two realms - Fourth and Fifth - and gained no result. Maybe Aquarius and Gemini had to stay in their solid rock form for another long time.

Two days ago, Bron passed the border and walk into the big forest of the Sixth Realm. He read about this place back in the castle that the Sixth Realm season was divided into Rain and Dry. Unfortunately, it was the Rain season, but fortunately, it was coming to an end.

The Sixth Realm was the biggest of the Seven Realms. However, three quarters of its land were forest and meadow, the rest was the kingdom's capital. It would take Bron approximately one week to get through this forest by the fastest route. After that, he would lend a horse, travel throughout the kingdom asking for some magical help. If his trip brought no benefit, he would wander to the last realm to find the answer his family need.

It seemed like staying too long in this forest would not help anything, since the only living creatures Bron came across were some innocent does and birds, he intended to leave the nature as soon as possible. At the moment, he has finished gathering the collected wood into a fagot. Hoping they would dry out before the sunset, Bron picked the bundle up and began to navigate his way out.

After another long day wandering in the forest, Bron decided that it was time to find a shelter and turn in, since it seemed like the sunset was going to disappear any time soon.

"This should do it..." he mumbled to himself when spotting a gigantic tree, with branches spread to every direction, enough to cover him from a suddenly small rain in the middle of the night.

Satisfied with his own choice, Bron snuggled up to the big root and took some ham, couples of wild berry and half of a sourdough bread. He hated hunting, for Bron was too afraid of killing animal by his own hand. So, before entering the Sixth Realm forest, he had to make sure all the food he bought at a Fifth Realm market was sufficient for his one week trip through the forest. The berry was a coincidentally harvest in Bron's way. He did not want to start a fire next to a big tree, so he lighted a candle, thinking it would be enough.

While chewing a piece of bread, Bron remembered his childhood feasting on luxury meals. It was true that the Third Realm economy has been full of ups and downs since the sun light vanished. Yet all the former kings, including the current King Luther, did some painstakingly fruitful job as a kingdom ruler. With effective lighting hour, the entire land now well fed and the royals could have their normal excellent meals.

For the last month, Bron has eaten lots of things but his old delicious meal with his family. It was not easy to switch from the high quality to common street food, yet Bron found it a great opportunity to try out the culinary from other realms. The Third Realm was famous for its tender beef and pork, while Fourth Realm had bundles of warm spicy food. His sourdough bread came from the Fifth Realm, where all masters of bakery convened.

After finishing his little dinner, Bron dusted off any breadcrumbs left on his clothes and took a sip of water. Then, he pulled out from his always-packed-with-stuff bag a royal velvet robe. This was the most expensive belonging that Bron carried with him, just after his sword. Bringing something related to his nobility was a way to correctly address him, and help him dodge several difficulties. But for now, the robe became a warm blanket.

"Goodnight, brothers and sisters. May the light shine on us again..." whispering the blessing to his siblings far far away, Bron blew out the candle and slowly drifted into his sleep.

Sorry for the boring chapter, but we'll soon get to the interesting part! This was just something for you to further understand my character.
