Marvin x Reader -Soulmate AU

[In this AU, everyone sees colours once they've touched their soulmate. Y/N touched theirs when they were younger, so they've always thought their colours were "default". They never knew.]

(Y/N) had always kept to themselves. As a small child they would sit quietly, playing with their toys, sometimes their parents not if realizing that they were there. They, of course, had friends. No real permanent ones though. The longest friendship she had ended when they went their separate ways to college.
   In this world, when people touch their soulmate, they see full colours. Since (Y/N) had always seen colours since they could remember, they just thought of it as the default. Little did they know, that one day when they were playing on the playground with one of their old friends, they had touched him, but never realized it was their soulmate.
   The two children had met on the playground, and when they had to leave, never saw each other again. So even if (Y/N) knew, they probably couldn't find their soulmate anyways.

RING RING!!

The ringing of their phone had snapped them out of their thoughts. "Hello?" they answered. "Hey! (Y/N)! I was wondering if we could meet up at the park? Lissa wants to see you, even though she knows you're gonna babysit her tomorrow." The (hair colour)ed (gender) smiled at the voice. It was, Damien, the father of the little girl she babysits on Sundays. "Of course!" they replied with happiness in their voice. The didn't have anything to do anyways. "Thanks, you're the best." She could hear him chuckle right before he hang up.

(Y/N) had quickly thrown on a comfy shirt, some jeans, and a light sweater. As they headed out, they pulled out their phone and put in their earbuds. They smiled when their favourite song came on and started walked through downtown. The park wasn't to far away from where they live, and they wanted to see what was going on downtown anyways.
   A few minutes later, they had arrived downtown. The smiled at the warm smells of coffee shops and small cafes. The sky was a beautiful light blue, and the sun made some shops shine golden. They kept walking and eventually came to a big crowd. Now, big groups of people huddled around street performers weren't unusual. But this crowd was bigger. And the colours were brighter. (Y/N) thought it was strange.

Over the top of the crowd's heads, (Y/N) could see a small cloud of smoke and sparkles. The crowed clapped and cheered excitedly. (Y/N) took out their earbuds and put away their phone. They tried to see, and push to the front, but the people made a thick barrier. They groaned when all of a sudden something snagged on (Y/N)'s sweater, and flung them forwards.
   Luckily someone caught them. And just in time.

"Are you okay?" A voice asked from above them.  "Y-yeah.." (Y/N) sputtered out. The crowd muttered and some slowly started to disappear. (Y/N) stood back up, and brushed themselves off. "Thanks.."
"It's no problem really, I was just preforming here-"
Oh so that's who he was.
"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" (Y/N) apologized frantically.
"For what? I'd rather have to stop my show than you laying on the floor with a busted head!" he laughed, lightening the mood.
By now, they were alone-ish again. I mean, they were downtown the can't really be completely alone.

Now that (Y/N) was steady on their feet again, they could see the performer. He had gorgeous blue eyes and fluffy green hair. A silly looking cat-like mask, but he looked good in it.

"Say-" the masked man said, snapping (Y/N) out of their thoughts again. "- did anything, you know, happen. When I caught you?"
(Y/N) smiled, confused. "No? What do you mean?" The man looked a little confused. "Well when I caught you, everything changed. I think..I'm seeing colours?" (Y/N) thought for a moment, then gasped.
Does that mean?
No! It can't be! She's always seen the same thing, nothing has ever changed when she's touched people.
"Are we soulmates?" He asked.
"I-I don't think so. I'm still seeing my default..I mean, I've always seen these colours-" "Colours" "Yeah, ever since I was little-" "You dummy!" The man interrupted her with a laugh. "It means you touched them when you were little! You just never realized that they were your soulmate!"

(Y/N) gasped. They thought back to that day. Harder that usual. That boy. It was him. They had been playing with a little boy with chocolatey hair, a kitten shirt, and he had a magic trick box with him. He had dropped all his cards and she had accidentally touched his hand while trying to hell him pick them up. They just never realized. And since the boy hadn't touched her,only they had touched him, he didn't know either.

(Y/N) smiled. "My name's Y/N"
"I'm Marvin" he giggled and pulled them into a hug.

Their phone buzzed in their pocket but they couldn't care less. Lissa would have to wait until tomorrow. (Y/N) had just found their soulmate.
