When You Cry

You opened your eyes and looked around. It was dark and cold, the distant scream of familiar voices filled your ears. All of a sudden a shadow moved to the side and let a little light in. You could see a group of your friends tied up. They all wore desperate expressions and they looked at you like they were begging you to help them escape. You tried to jump from where you were laying, for some reason though you couldn't move. It was like something was paralyzing you but there was no explicable reason for it.

Then the shadows crept up to your friends. You tried to scream for them to stop but you couldn't even open your mouth to do so. The shadow whisped inside of them making them look like they took a drag off a cigarette. The moment was tense as they did nothing but then they let out a blood-curdling scream of agony. You have never heard a scream like that come from a human in your whole entire life. Then your friend collapsed to their side like they were a husk. You closed your eyes tight hoping for it to end.

You opened your eyes again to see.... Your tent? Huh?

You sat up and looked around. Was that a dream? It seemed it was... It felt like it was real though. Like you could hear, see, feel, and smell that moment that just happened. There was a wet feeling on your cheek. Were you crying? You realized you were but not until you were sobbing loudly.

This seemed to have alerted someone because your tent flap fluttered open and lamplight flooded in. You look up to see the face of...

Wilson

"I say... What's going on in here? Are you alright?", He said stepping inside.

In order to answer, you had to take control of your sobbing and calm down enough to speak. It wasn't an easy feat to get there but you were able to do it after a few minutes.

"I just dreamt that my friends... W-Well I don't know what happened. I don't know if they died or if their soul was taken or what.... I just knew that the shadows left them as a husk! And that it felt all too real", The waterworks cued back up again.

Wilson scratched his head, "Yeah, I have dreams that feel like I'm living them here too. I have come up with a theory for this! I think that in this dimension dreams have a separate reality that we can cross over to anytime due to this world's power! ....Or maybe it's just a really bad stress dream that we experience from the constant pressure put on all of us."

You felt conflicted how to feel about this. On one hand, learning how it happens can help you learn to cope with it. On the other hand, his science mumbo-jumbo wasn't really what you wanted to hear. You wanted hugs or nice words. Which it seemed that he wasn't going to give to you. So you decided to settle on one of his points.

"The stress dream idea was really stupid...", You told him.

He looked up in thought as he wondered what to say to you about that. Wilson's eyes met yours again when he figured it out, "And the crossing over into another dimension when you're sleep thing wasn't?"

.... Yeah, that was stupid as well.

Willow

"You woke me up, what is it?", She demanded and stepped in.

"M-My friend was killed! Or hurt!", You answered.

Willow looked concerned for a moment. One of the first times you've ever seen that look on her face, "What?"

"I-In my dream my friend-"

Not only did you lose her there but you got a cold look as she decided to not listen to the whole story, "Just a dream? .... Then you're fine."
