Raindrops

They fall to the earth, needles from the sky

I'm wondering why they'd wanna fall from so high

They fall to the earth, nonstop

Hitting ground, making way for another drop

For ten drops, they don't cease

They see war and proceed to make peace

They can't feel, but they leave me feeling

They don't speak, but their speech leaves me reeling

They make life while they rust our steel things

Siphon pain, give visions to prophets and kings

They live life the right way, no matter what the fools say

Falling in the morning, disappearing by day

Mass redeeming in the grounds of the fallen

Spirits left screaming, heartbroken, forever uncallen

The rain falls while man tries to rise

The rain is immortal, watching everyone die

A man spends the sum of his days

Hoping that his friends will remember his glorious days

By "glorious", I mean impactful, maybe not positive

Maybe something so bad it'd better left closeted

But that's the thing, man, nothing we do will last

The rain will take it all, stone temples to towers of glass

We don't care though, we never really have

Gotta keep our heads high, gotta have the last laugh

We fight wars over gold, cold death's what we serve

Struggling to gain a hold on things we don't deserve

We see water from the sky and we take, take, take

Open our mouths wide and steal life from the lake

Upsetting the balance, tipping all the scales

The rain watches as we cheat the world and fail

And through it all, when it's done, the rain

Will ascend into heaven; I wonder if we'll do the same
