– Chapter 2
“So this is... Death City and Shibusen?” A lone girl stood outside the academy, wearing a purple and black log sleeved, baggy jumper and black jeans. She slowly made her way up the grand stairs that surrounded Shibusen. Her bare feet made little noise, her long blue hair swayed about in the wind, around the horns on her head.
“This is where I'll meet Lord Death?” She closed her eyes, thick eyelashes covering her bottom lid. “I can feel every presence in there. Powerful Meisters and Weapons, and the Grim Reaper himself.” She closed her eyes tighter, thinking about Lord Death's soul.
Was it so large that it was all around her? Or was it because... it was connected to the city somehow?
There's no time to waste.
She walked, almost a jog around to the side of the building. She pushed herself into the air, moving faster than the eye can register she flashed onto the roof of Shibusen. She could feel souls engaged in training further back in the area. It was outside, so she could go and see easily. She pushed herself off the roof, flashing about 50m ahead of where she was. She then pushed off the air, moving forward again.
She saw a group of students engaged in a training session. She could feel from one of their souls that he was a Grim Reaper like Death. A boy in a black suit with black hair. He had two weapons, pistols, which he held in each hand.
There was another, a girl. She wore a skirt and jacket with a cloak around her. Her scythe was familiar. Where do I know that from? She had a strong wavelength. Perhaps more so than the reaper boy. She had more potential, for sure. She looked to be a natural leader.
Then the last boy. This one's... different. He seems very cocky; his soul is frighteningly powerful for someone this reckless. His weapon's soul is a lot more stable than he is. A good match.
The girl, still standing in the air at this point, crossed her legs and sat down. She watched their movements from high up and monitored their souls.
“We've done this in battle, so lets get it right in class.” Maka readied herself. “Soul resonance!” Her soul grew stronger, and connected with Kid's.
Now for Black*Star. Maka built up her strength and began to connect the resonance between all three of them. Kid and Black*Star followed her lead. The girl in the sky smiled.
After a few seconds, the connection between Maka, Kid and Black*Star was complete. It went smoothly, more so than in previous attempts. They held the connection for about a minute or so. Then it slowly faded away.
“They have skill.” The girl stood up again.
Maka looked up, she saw a blur of purple and blue disappeared from her sight. “What was that... I felt another soul here.”
Kid looked over to Maka. “Another soul? Do you know who it was?”
“It felt like a Meister and two weapons in the same place...” Maka turned back to the group. “Want to try the link again? We can only practice more in the spare time we have.”

I think its time I go meet with the Reaper.
She had found her way inside, and the girl was now outside of the Death Room. “How bad can it be? He's just the Grim Reaper. I'm sure it won't be so bad.” She rubbed her toes against each other for a moment, then walked inside.
Lord Death was sitting in the Death Room, seemingly thinking about something. His attention turned to the new presence in the Death Room immediately. “Not again. Can't you students ever ask to come in?”
