A/N - I don't know. I'm on vacation and I was bored so I loaded up a short story plot generator and this happened. It's not very good, but I don't really care.

Ally sat at her computer, attempting to think up something to write in her college essay, when she heard the familiar sound of her phone going off. "It's one in the god damn morning. Who the hell is up at this time?" Ignoring the fact that she was up herself she retrieved her phone and typed in the passcode. She pulled up her messages and frowned when she saw it was from an unknown number. She read it anyways.

Check your mail

That was all it said. No name. No indication of who it was. Just a command.

Who is this?

She typed back. She waited several minutes, but there was no response. She stood up from her chair and made her way over to her apartment door. She hesitated. Should I really go out there? She asked herself. It could be a murderer for all she knew. Someone trying to get her out of her apartment. She went out anyways, curiosity drawing her to go check her mail. Curiosity killed the cat I suppose. She knew that wasn't the entirety of the phrase. In fact, that was what her essay was on. The meaning beind it. It wasn't the most interesting topic, but it was what she was assigned. Her thoughts froze when she reached the bottom of the stairs she had been climbing. She lived on the second floor so the descent didn't take very long. She was having second thoughts though. She hadn't been thinking this through. Yet, her legs carried her onwards and she didn't bother protesting. She was too tired to think about this thoroughly.

When she reached her assigned mailbox and opened it there was a single envelope. She took it out and ran back to her room, suddenly realizing how suspicious this was. Once she got back she quickly unlocked the door and stepped in. Locking the door again behind her, she placed the envelope down. I'll look at it after I finish my essay. She told herself. When she returned to her computer she saw her phone had received a message.

Just an... Old friend

She didn't bother texting back. She had a five thousand word essay to finish. It didn't take very long, but by the time she was finished she had completely forgotten about the envelope and the mysterious person. She rubbed her green eyes and staggered over to her bed. She had a roomate, but they had gone on a trip to Mexico to visit their family. Ally pulled her dark black hair into a ponytail and fell into bed, falling asleep almost instantly

Ally sat up quickly. She yawned and stretched before getting up and turning her phone alarm off. She only had one class today, but then she had work. She quickly got ready and made sure she had everything she needed for her essay. She put her essay into the folder she had gotten for it with confidence and was almost out the door when she remember last night's events. She made a detour over to where she had placed the envelope and ripped it ope. Ally pulled out the contents and was surprised to see a check. Her face twited into a look of confusion and read the amount it was giving her. She froze up when she had finished. Did I read that right? I must be really tired. That can't be correct. She read it over again and again before placing it onto her counter. "One hundred million dollars," She said to herself. "This has to be fake." She looked at the clock and cursed loudly to herself when she saw the time. I'll check to see if it's a fake after class. I have a little while before work and if I don't leave now I'll be late! Ally sprinted to the bus stop she waited at everyday and just barely made the bus on time. She could barely pay attention in class once she got there and almost forgot to hand in her essay when she went to leave. She rushed out as soon as it was turned in though, not stopping to chat like she usually did. The bank was right next to the campus and she got there quickly, trying to convince herself not to get her hopes up. The line was short and she got to the counter in record time.

"Hello dear how can I help you?" The lady asked and Ally placed the check onto the counter.

"Is this a real check? Because I got it in the mail without a return address or name." The lady studied it closely. She didn't seem to be paying much attention to the amount and Ally was slightly thankful for it.

"It looks to be real dear. Do you want me to deposit it into your bank acount?"

"I-Uh-Really? I mean yes please, p-put it in" Ally said before going through the process without any questions about the amount.

"Have a nice day. And also another thing. The boy who told me you would be cashing in the check was rather handsome. How do you know him?" The woman said just as Ally was about to leave.

"What?! You saw him? Did he leave a name?" She asked frantically.

"No, sorry," The lady responded and Ally turned to face the door.

"Thanks anyways," Ally said with a sigh before walking out the door. Just as she exited she ran into someone. "Oh my god I am so sorry!" She blurted out, eyes wide.

"Don't worry about it," The man responded and Ally looked up. "How about to make up for it though, we go get some coffee? On me," He said with a smile. He was dark haired and his eyes were a pretty blue. He was tall and had some muscle on him.

"Y-Yeah sure. That would be nice," She responded and they walked to the nearest coffee shop, chatting happily. Ally never figured out who sent her that money, but the boy who bought her coffee and then proceeded to buy her a ring had a pretty good idea.
