You attempt to calm your shaky breath as you duck into the dark cave. A tree branch almost whips against your back, and you barely dodge it. Rapidly looking around, you wait for your eyes to adjust to the darkness before finding cover. Two large rocks appear in your newly-adjusted vision, and you sprint towards them. A spot appears amid the rocks, about big enough for you to slide into. Without looking back, you suck in a breath and force your body into the slightly cramped slot. Your mind races as you hope that your spot isn't visible to anyone who may enter. This time you do not want to be found.
You lean your head back against the cool rock, listening to the steady drip of water of a stream on the edge of the cave. It was the only sound to be heard in the cave, and you just stand and listen for what feels like hours. Then you hear footsteps.
Your breath hitches in your throat while you listen to the steps getting closer. You absolutely can not be found. It should be impossible for him to be right behind you. You ran far too fast to escape the others to have them this close to finding you out. Those thoughts continue to cloud your mind, until you realize the footsteps are directly in the way of your exit. You hold your breath as you hear the scraping of cloth against stone, and your eyes widen as you begin to feel the heat of another person on your side. A hand reaches out, connecting with your shoulder. Both you and the other person jolt at the shock of another being in the same area.
"Woah!" A surprised, but familiar voice shouts out, "Who's there?"
"Ray...? What the-What in the world are you doing here?" You whisper frantically, "You're gonna get us caught!"
You hear Ray release a tense breath, "Oh, y/n, calm down. He's not gonna find us out here. This place is too far behind cover for him to even think of." His attempt to reassure you is failing miserably.
You know he can't see you, but your eyes plead him. "But, Ray, I really can't be found this time." Your voice reeks of desperation.
He takes a second to respond, "And you won't be!" The sureness in his voice almost soothes you, "Especially with how well I covered up our-"
The sound of rustling branches forces you both to freeze. The chances of the noise being caused by the man you're hiding from are high.
A thud sounds across the cave, and a man speaks, "Gosh diddly darn nature. Always hits back when I least expect!" He pauses for a second, "Except, I know you're in here. So, any hits I take are well worth it."
Ray tugs your sleeve and pushes you farther into the gap you're wedged into. With nowhere else to turn or run, you willingly slide deeper into the gap, if only to avoid the man on the other side. As you scoot further around the boulder, another gap appears in front of you. Your brain catches up to Ray's directions, so you quickly change direction into that gap as fast as you can move without much noise. With Ray close behind, you spot a gleam of light at a different end of the tunnel.
"I'm gonna find you, no matter where you try to hide!" The voice of your pursuer echoes out behind you, causing you to only move faster.
The second you wedge free of the small gap, you sprint as fast as you can towards the close exit. Your heart pounds against your chest as you think of how easily he might spot you. You jump in between two branches, breaking free of the dank cave. Not daring to check if Ray is still behind you, you continue to run in the opposite direction of the cave.
Your legs brush against any and all foliage in the forest. You jump over logs and zip around trees, tearing through the forest in your attempt to escape. Hollers and shouts ring through the trees behind you, so you know he is chasing after you. You can only hope Ray made it out without being caught as well.
Eventually, you break out of the dense forest and into the courtyard of the Black Army Castle. While still running forward, you decide to take a single glance behind you to see if Ray is there still. You see him break out of the forest with a wild grin. Shaking your head, you turn your attention back to where you're running, only to run headlong into another person. You crash into the person, sending you both tumbling across the ground, with you landing on top.
A groan sounds from beneath you, "Y/N, why were you running through my garden?" Sirius pauses, "And why are you now on top of me?"
"Uhh," You struggle to explain your situation, so you hurriedly glance backwards and search for your pursuer. You see Ray panting and laughing on the ground next to you, and then a man with magenta hair emerges from the trees, his crazy eyes locked on you.
"I found you, Y/N!" Fenrir yells from afar.
You panic, "No no no no no no no!" You angrily roll off of Sirius and thud onto the dusty ground.
Running up to your side, Fenrir pumps his fist in the air, "Yes! Fifth time in a row, Y/N!" He does a little celebration dance, if only to rub salt farther into the wound.
Sirius stands and brushes off his clothes, "Just what are you guys doing?" He questions, curiosity seeping into his tone.
"We're playing hide and seek, boss!" Fenrir explains, "I've found Y/N, Ray, Seth, AND Luka five times!" Seth and Luka groan from a bench a few yards away.
Sirius raises an eyebrow, "What is the purpose?"
Ray sighs, "Fenrir didn't want to train like we normally do, so we figured a large game of hide and seek would entertain him."
"It worked!" Fenrir energetically confirms.
You pout, "Except he's absolutely far too good at the game for it to be any fun for us as well." The other three losers mutter insults in agreement.
"Hey!" Fenrir shouts, "You all said yes to me being the seeker!"
"That was before we knew you'd keep kicking our butts at it." Luka interjects.
Nodding, Seth motions toward Luka, "He's got a point!"
Before Fenrir can argue, Sirius steps in, "Okay, well how about we play something else, considering you're all so bored with my training regimen?"
You quickly stand up, ready to defend his teaching methods, but Ray speaks first, "It was all Fenrir's idea." Seth and Luka furiously nod to confirm his words.
Fenrir's jaw drops, "I've been bro-trayed!"
Ray grins then turns back to Sirius, "We should probably start training though. Whatcha got old man?"
"Alright," Sirius's grin grows wide, "Game's over, guys. Time to actually train." He cracks his knuckles, signaling the end of our fun afternoon.
