Paperjam's P.O.V
"And that's how Queen Comyet found this island and made it her kingdom"
I groaned. My adviser is so boring! Ink had more fun when he was a prince! Grandmother Comyet must be so nice that she even told him to freeload.
"Prince Paperjam Comyet!!" My adviser yelled. I jolted in shock. I looked at her to see a frown on her face.
"If you're not going to pay attention then go! I need to teach Prince Gradient about history!" She slammed my book shut. I winced and got off of the seat. I walked to the door, sighed and left the room. Gradient was waiting outside with a disapproving look on his face.
"When are you going to grow up and learn to be mature?" Gradient said as he passed me to go into the room. I sighed and pulled at my sleeves.
'When I stop being a prince' I thought. I hated being a royal. Everyone's pressure on me, acting like a snob, learning languages. I just hate acting proper.
I walked down the hall and out of the castle. The light grey coloured castle with gold lining shone in the light. I walked down the path to the beach. This is the place I hope to find a lover and definitely not a prissy princess.
I am actually looking for a guy. Yes I'm gay, so what? Being 15 means I can do what I like. Gradient is 18 yet he doesn't care about love.
I looked down on the yellowish sand and out the blue ocean and its ripples. It looked so peaceful.
"Huh?" I blinked as a light flashed.
I looked to see the wave wash something on the shore. I slowly walk up to it and it had a peculiar shape. It wasn't some plastic wrapper with aluminium on one of the sides. It was shaped in a specific way.
I bent down and picked it up. It was covered in sand. I went closer to the ocean, pulled up my sleeves and gently washed the object.
Once washed I finally saw it. It was a silver dolphin necklace. It was engraved with a wording on the back of it.
"Oceanius?"
Everything went still as a blue light emitted from it. It pushed me back and got flung into the ocean.
I held my breath and looked around. The dark depths brighten as the same blue glow shone. It surrounded my whole being. I closed my eyes as the light became blinding.
I looked around and tried to swim to the surface but I couldn't feel my legs. I looked down to see a long tail and a pair of fins. The tail that belonged to a fish. What's worse was that it was connected to me.
"AHHHH!!!!" I screamed. Then closed my mouth. Wait.................
I can breathe?! I looked at my neck to see gills. What the hell?!
I was very confused and examined my tail. It was a black scaled tail that matched my bones and had splatters of pink, yellow and blue. My fins had the same pink, yellow and blue but in a gradient.
I looked at my arm and saw more fins with the same gradient look. I also noticed webbed fingers. I wore a blue shirt that had the same splatters.
I looked at the necklace and saw it placed itself around my neck.
How am I going to change back?!
I moved my tail back and forward and saw that I was reaching the surface. Once I resurfaced, I glanced around and swam forward. Once near the surface I jumped up and a yellow light surrounded me.
My tail transformed back into my legs and my clothing was back to royal. The odd thing was, my clothes weren't soaked and neither was I, I looked at the necklace and shoved it into my buttoned shirt so no one notices it. I ran back to castle and into the library.
I skimmed through the sections and found the book I was looking for. 'The Book Of Merfolk' is what its called. I flipped through the pages and found it.
Merfolk are creatures who are half human and half fish. Over the time, monster merfolk appeared too. With monsters like skeletons attached to a fish tail. They haven't been seen for a long time and we haven't found anything about them. All we know is that merfolk can summon weapons and have abilities such as speaking to sea creatures, having super healing and can shift into two forms.
These are called Ocean and Land forms. We believe they live among us but haven't found any yet. Merfolk also bleed silver and if a human gets turned into a merfolk once when they turn back they will bleed silver no matter what.
Merfolk are also known to have healing powers and their scales can heal poison and revive people from death. Since then they have been hunted.
Even if you're human, monster and so on. There is a way to become merfolk. There is a necklace called 'The Necklace Of The Merfolk', once found and transformed, you can never stop changing back into a mermaid or merman. Once you enter sea water or salt water, you will turn back, and unless you leave the water, you won't change back.
The necklace, however, is able to let you shift into your original form even in the water. This necklace was taken and hidden in the water and never to be seen. If you have the necklace, never take it off. You'll need it to help you shift back if you're in the water.
But remember this, you can never change back.
"Pj!"
I shut the book and looked to see my father Ink rushing over. "Dinner started 10 minutes ago! Where were you?" Dad looked at me with concern.
"Sorry dad, I got caught up in this book" I rubbed my arm.
He sighed.
"Its okay Pj, lets just go and have dinner" He held out a hand. I grasped it lightly and nodded.
"Okay"
We walked to dinner and those words are still in my mind.
'You can never change back'
