"Where were you?" She asked, coming out of his bedroom wrapped in one of his blankets.

"Just out," he murmured.

"Really? You seem to go out a lot lately," she gave him a small smile. "You wanna tell me where?"

"It's none of your business," he said with a sigh, hanging his coat on the wall.

This made her angry, she was worried sick and all he said was "it's none of your business".

"Are you serious?" She narrowed his eyes in his, "you just get up in the middle of the night, disappear for hours and you're not even going to tell me where you went?"

"That's quite correct," he replied.

"You're unbelievable," she scoffed.

"What do you want me to say?" He took a step forward, "I can't tell you."

"We're supposed to be in a relationship, Oliver," she looked at him, sorrow in her eyes. "You're keeping things from me, you're being distant, you're pushing me away again."

He didn't respond, he just looked at her, trying to find the right thing to say. Eventually, she had enough.

"It sucks," she said, trying to keep her tears from streaming down, she was tired, so tired. "And it shouldn't suck so much but it does," she said with a breath. "You're everywhere except for right here and it fucking hurts!" She didn't even realize that she had raised her voice, "but what sucks the most is that you don't even care!"

"I do care," he said, still not showing any emotions, it drove her crazy that she never knew what he was thinking.

Her breathing started to get more heavy, she was at the verge of tears and it overwhelmed her.

"Are you cheating on me?" She finally asked.

He stood there, dumbstruck, not sure what to think. How could she think he would do such a thing? He almost snapped at her when a thought came to his mind. He couldn't tell her about his meetings, she wasn't safe as long as she was with him. If he made her hate him, she would leave voluntarily. What he did next hurt him more than he will ever admit, it broke his heart to say that one word.

"Yes," he whispered, looking down at his feet, he couldn't meet her eyes.

"I can't breathe," tears threatened to stream down her face.
"Please, you have to understa-"

"No, I don't understand!" She cut him off. "I don't understand because to me you're the one, you are the only one."

She felt like everything came down to that moment right there, like she had no place to go - no place to live. Breathing didn't feel right, she didn't feel alive and she didn't feel awake.

"So that's it?" She asked. "I'm just some stupid girl who meant nothing to you?" His black eyes snapped to her blue ones.

"Yes," he swallowed thickly, as if the words were like sandpaper grating his tongue. "Yes, you mean nothing to me, you never did."

She knew he was lying, but that didn't make it hurt any less, it didn't make the pain any easier, the sadness any less bearable. And suddenly, that sadness turned into anger.

"How foolish of me to believe that being faithful comes naturally when being in a relationship," she fought back her tears, crying meant caring and she didn't want to give him that satisfaction. "In fact, you did nothing wrong, Oliver," she continued. "I broke my own heart believing that a person like you could ever resemble a person that I need."

And with that, she left his apartment, still wrapped in one of his blankets.
