Safe Haven

I'm so tired..... I could sleep for another hour, but noooo! I have to go to work. The dread of any kid right? Well I hate it especially since it's in the morning, why can't it start mid-day cause then MAYBE I won't be a literal zombie. I ought there right now and tell them to kiss my....

"Ma'am??" I exit my rage to see the barista holding a large coffee cup, sharpie in hand. I realize she's asking my name and I clumsily respond "Oh! I'm so sorry, it's Kate." She give me a solid eye roll and then starts to make my drink.

Starbucks is a safe haven for me, especially before school or work. It's so relaxing and the coffee is amazing! I don't care what anyone says, it's the best. It's a place where I can drink my liquid alarm clock and scroll through Instagram.

Today I see that Eliza, my best friend, has finally gotten back from vacation in Hawaii. She has a gorgeous tan and an incredible new dress that her dad probably got her.

She's beautiful, absolutely breath taking. She's also super smart and the sweetest and most acting person you'll ever know. It's no surprise she has an amazing boyfriend she's had since 8th grade.

I scroll a bit farther where I see new posts from my favorite artists and brands. Then I hear my named called by the still annoyed barista. I pick up my precious coffee and see she must've heard me wrong because she wrote "Fate" on my cup. Or maybe she didn't care enough to correct herself.

Either way, I was excited to have my caramel frappichino. I kept scrolling through Instagram while sipping on my drink (a skill I've learned to master).

I scroll to see that TØP has a new song which makes me super excited. Then a notification pops up that someone requested to follow me.

I check it out. It turns out to be a guy names Max who is 2 years older than me which is the oldest guys I'll hang out with. So I let him follow me and follow him back and think nothing of it....

I finish my coffee and start to walk to work when I hear a ding come from my back pocket. I take out my phone to see a dm from that guy. I open it, he said "wow"  which I really didn't understand at first. So I asked "wow what? Lol"

He typed for what seemed like ages and just as I was heading through the doors he responds

Max: youre beyond beautiful

I instantly turn bright red and think of what to say. I finally decide to keep it simple and say,

Me:  thank you!

Max:  ur welcome!❤️I'd ask what your name is but your bio says Kate, so assuming you don't have two names I'll call you that, which is also a very pretty name.

Me: haha 😅 yes that is my only name. And thank you, I like your name too! Assuming that's also your only name😂

Max: lol yes it is 😂 so what do you do for fun

I start to type my hobbies but realize that I have work to do. So I tell him ill have to answer that question later. He types,

Max: Why😞

Me: I have to work🙄

Max: aww I'll just come there and pick you up and carry you straight out😂❤️

Me: aww haha 😂I'd totally accept that offer but I don't wanna get in trouble

Max: ok ok 😂 maybe next time

Me: next time 😂

Max: TTYL❤️ (btw you're so damn cute 😍)

Me: awww thx❤️ ttyl

I put my phone away and smile so large. I can't wait to text him later.
