I'm hanging out with my best friend, Daisy, we finally have a day off from homework and studying.
"So how are you and the babes?" She questions me popping a tater tot in her mouth.
"Good." I plainly answer.
"Nice, so nothing new going on, huh?"
"Nope, but I did find a receipt for something from a jewelry store. It wasn't cheap." I smile excited thinking he is finally popping the question.
"How do you think he will ask you?" She questions me. I shrug in response, "you know he isn't the romantic type. It'll probably be private, but you'll be the first to know."
We continue talking about our classes, and drama.
After my lunch date with my best friend, I went home and started doing laundry.
As I'm folding I think about how things are between me and boyfriend. We met our first year of high school we've been dating all throughout high school, never once have we broken up. Although it's been normal. We fight and argue, then go back to cuddling and joking around. Except for recently, he has been distant. He says we're okay, that he has been stressed, I tell him he can stop working for his dad and focus on himself, but he doesn't want to lose his chance of inheriting his dad's business after four years of business. Looking at the time I see his shift is almost done. Finishing up the laundry I go into the kitchen and start dinner.
I was about to finish when I get a text.

Babe: I'm going to be late.

This is the 6th time he has done this in the last two weeks. Taking a breath I look at the time, I have class tomorrow but I'm sure I can go out for a bit. Grabbing my jacket I took a stroll around the neighborhood.
I stop at a nearby playground and sat on the swing. The swing next to me begins to move along with my tempo. "What are you doing here alone, Doll?" I hear the deep voice question me. He has on a clean white hoodie. "Figure I could get some air." I answer him.
"How are things?" He asks me. "Things have been good, what about you?" I question back out of politeness. "Oh, uh the usual." He answers. We sat there awkwardly, "We're lying aren't we." I admit for the both of us.
"Basically, but I doubt you want to talk about what really is bothering you." He says.
"Not like there is anything to say." I lie.
"So, nothing wrong in paradise where you come to this playground every night your 'boyfriend' is late." He began.
"What is to you? And how the hell do you know?" I yell at him upset he knows something I can barely tell myself.
"Easy, I'm sorry. I've been watching you. Like I said soon you will have to come with me." He flashes his craved smile to me. He looked at me pleading for me to stay. I was about to leave when my phone vibrates
Babe: I'm going to be sleeping at the office tonight. I'll see you tomorrow.
I sighed, sitting back down on the swing. "Are you hungry by any chance?" I ask Jeff.
"What did you cook?" He looks at me with something in his eyes, maybe pity.
"Baked pork chops, with yellow squash and asparagus." I answer him.
"Why not, you're cooking always looked good to me." Jeff answers. We both get up and walk to my home.
"So, who got the house?" He asks as we walked side by side.
"It's technically mine. My aunt put it under my name before she passed away. She also saved enough money for me to go to school and all, but I use my scholarships for school." I told him.
"Nice, minus the aunt part, so uh Doll. Damn look I'm sorry for saying something about your boyfriend. It's probably creepy enough that I'm following you around that may have been out of line." He apologizes.
"Don't worry about it. It's a rough patch, it happens to any couple. Could we talk about something else?"

We finally reach the house. Unlocking the front door I let Jeff enter.
"Thanks for inviting me (y/n). So where can I sit?" He was standing awkwardly in the living room. "Right, the dining room is in there. Unless you want to eat out here and we can watch some TV." I suggest. He thinks about it. "I'm picking the movie." He says. I set us the plates and silverware on the coffee table and turn on the TV then handed the remote to Jeff. He quickly puts on a scary movie and began laughing when the intro shows the murderer killing his family into pieces. I looked at him. I know he is insane but is he a killer? He turns to me explaining the correct way to kill and the movie barely started. He pauses looking at my expression. He takes a breath. "I'm not only crazy, but I also kill." He admits giving me a crazed smile and his eyes became almost empty. "Relax I'm not going to kill you, not allowed to. Besides I got my fix before coming here." He sits and took his first bite. Accepting the craziness I sat back and began eating.

We finished our meal, the plates and silverware are in the sink. We are watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I jumped onto Jeff from a loud noise that came from the movie. Jeff laughed at me. My face flushed from embarrassment, he put his arm around me "Don't worry I'll protect you." He jokes. I slap my hand onto his chest before directing my eyes back onto the screen in front of us, laying my head on his shoulder I felt him almost relax.

I woke up the next day to a teenage girl screaming, and me on the sofa. Grabbing the remote I turned off the movie and laid myself down. That was until I see I'm cuddling with Jeff. Quickly I get up looking at my phone I see I have two hours before class I went down the hallway to my room to clean up in my joined bathroom. After quickly washing up I went into the kitchen to make breakfast and lunch. Looking at the time I had more than enough time until school.
"Hey, doll. What are you cooking?"
"Just some eggs and chicken ranch wrap for lunch along with some snacks."
"Wait is that for the both of us?" He leans on the counter.
"Yeah, I figured you would want food." I told him giving him a plate with eggs, toast, and bacon. Walking to the dining room we ate in silence.
"Don't you have class today?" He asks me as we finish our breakfast and I grab our plates to put in the sink.
"Yeah, but I got time." I assure him, placing the dirty dishes in the sink. Giving him his packed lunch before we leave the kitchen. "You know since I have to follow you. I could just go with you." He shyly suggests looking away from me.
"I mean, but won't people notice a person that not usually there, with um." I didn't know how to mention his scars.
"With a carved smile, and scared eyelids from botched reconstruction surgery." He smiles big as a way to probably scare me.
"Well, you already know I think you look good." I sheepishly admit to him one again. His piercing eyes never leaving my gaze now. I can't believe I told him that again.
"We better get going, or I'll be late." I tell him after standing there in silence for a second too long. Following my lead, we go out to my car and drive away.
I'm surprised that my boyfriend hasn't come home yet, no text message or miss call from him. Not wanting to worry myself I focus on driving to school.
