The crinkles of sound that my brothers created pierced my ears as I could hear them slowly being taken away. I always wondered where they were sent, and shivered at the thought every time.
Above me I could finally see light, fully knowing another one of us had just been taken away. My anxiety rose as I heard the footsteps that have been repeated many times over this long, dreadful night. I felt a hand grapple me and made an attempt to fight back, yet was unable to as I was paralized by pure shock. As I was being carried away to my new destination, I could smell the stench of my dead brothers in the air.
Then the ground underneath me had slipped away.
I was in freefall as I plummeted into an almost pitch black room. For a few seconds I recognized what looked like a cousin I had thought I lost many years ago, he sat next to many strangers. I wonder where they all came from?
Finally reaching the ground I felt a rush of pain strike through my body.
Then I passed out
...
I woke up feeling numb and could barely feel the hand that grabbed me. I opened my eyes to the teeth of a hungry child.
That would be the last thing I saw before I died.
