"I've always been a bit of a loner. I mean, I have friends but I've always focused on other things like school and the world around me, as well as above."
The obnoxious ringing of your phone fills your head, growing louder and more annoying by each ring. Groaning, you grab your phone half-heartedly and check the time.
6:15. Hold on...
Your flight leaves in half an hour.
Shit.
Practically throwing yourself out of your bed, (h/c) hair flying everywhere; you grab your suitcase and place it near the door. Grabbing a plain singlet and pair of shorts shortened to your liking, you hastily dress your shivering body. "Fuck, mom must have left a window open or something. Thank god I'm heading to someplace warm and wear these shorts for once" mumbling to yourself, you grab your suitcase after grabbing a decent sweater and head downstairs, accompanied with repetitive and not to mention, annoying thumping.
"Hey sweetheart, are you ready? I'll start the car now." your mother calls from the kitchen, appearing to be preparing food for your trip in little bags. "If we're lucky, we'll beat the snowfall, oh and also, here, have these, it should keep you satisfied for a while" smiling and handing you the bags of what smelt like amazing, aromatic food.
Your mother exits the house and makes her way to the battered Hyundai around the corner of the small home. Making use of the spare time, you devour a bowl of cereal in hopes of satisfying yourself for at least the car ride... I mean, those bags of goodness are starting to look appealing..."Come on, (Y/n)!" your mother screams outside, honking the horn furiously.
Running to the car parked and waiting out the front of the door, you grab your suitcase and throw it into the back, then take a seat in the passenger's side next to your mother.
As you clip your seat belt on, you gasp and run out of the car. "I forgot my locket!" screaming, you rush upstairs, retreat into your room and grab your locket, then run back outside, locking the door and jumping into the car once again.
"Damn (y/n) we are stretching time, the plane leaves in fifteen minutes, you're lucky we live so close." Your mother exhales, starting the car and driving it out of the property until the small home disappeared in amongst the line of snow-covered pine trees.
"Sorry, mom... Heh, you know, I'm going to miss you telling me to do chores as much as I hate to admit it." You gingerly reply, playing with your locket awkwardly.
I hope I haven't pissed her off...
Your mother turns to you and smiles, giving you some relief. "I still can't believe I'm letting you do this, but I'm happy to allow you to go outside and explore the world... or maybe some more friends."
You scoff, taking your gaze off the window. "Mum, I'm not three, friends aren't really on my, you know, list of priorities on this trip."
Sighing, your mother replies "Ah, well just keep in mind that I'd like you to at least try." She pauses for a second and continues with a smile "How about I play some cheesy songs?"
Rolling your eyes and giggling you nod your head and your mother turns up the radio until you both can't hear yourselves think, blasting some cheesy songs you knew the lyrics to, but the name still, to this day remains unknown to you.
The rest of the car ride was filled with out of tune singing and laughter. You couldn't be any happier.
"Do you have everything?"
"Yes mom"
"clothes?"
"yes"
"food?"
