As she floated around an ancient city scanning from one wreckage to the next. Searching through each looking for her lost half. In the settled dust of a crumbling building she finds stasis pods disconnected, and broken. She finds no one has survived. From what she can tell non of them suffered a harsh death, they likely died before the body was able to awaken. Searching each pod one after another any of these could be the guardian she is looking for, each of them could have their own ghost to revive them and live a new life one of hope and meaning.
She makes it to the last row of pods. So far she hasn't felt the spark from any of these lost souls. "Hmmm soul, what is a soul anyways, I am called a ghost isn't that another term they use synonymously. Similarly to mind and consciousness?" She asks herself as she nears the end of the row. The second to last pod seems sealed and the body is well preserved compared to the other bodies and skeletons that litter this facility.
"Its him! I found him finally after all these years!" She exclaims excitedly a smile in her voice. She brightens and her shell starts to expand, the light growing brighter and brighter around her. Soon enveloping the pod and the body inside. Life and light begun to grow inside his body. Taking in a deep breath, slowly fluttering his eyes open. Looking at her, he then realizes the glass between them and starts to panic, pushing against the glass trying to open the pod.
There was a sign of frustration in her eye as she realized her mistake. She expands her shell again studying the pod hacking the powered down controls trying to get the pod open. After a few moments the door pops with a hiss as he pushes the door open falling out down to his knees. Taking in a deep satisfying breath with a sigh of relief.
"Where.. Where am I and what are you, what has happened?" He asks the floating object in front of him obvious confusion in his voice. "Slow down I'll answer what I can, I can help get you to the city where the Speaker can answer more of what you need to know. But first we need to get you out of here as soon as possible." She responds. He replies "Please just answer who or what you are and what is going on. Please I don't understand where I am or how I was trapped in this... this box.
"I'm a ghost. Well I'm your ghost now. You were in a stasis pod. Its designed to keep someone in basically in a long term state of sleep." She says cheerfully glad that she has now found her perfect match, her new half. "Do you remember anything of who you are or were before today? Anything about your past?" "I.. I don't know I think I remember having something with me when I was put into this pod as you called it." He turns around and looks at the pod. He pulls back on the head rest, it opens reveling a storage compartment. Pulling out the box, opening it up he finds clothes and a silver watch with a chain. Ignoring everything else, opening the watch he sees images from the past a faded picture. "Who is she?" He asks no one in particular.
"We need to hurry!" She repeats more urgently. He gathers what is in the box putting on his old clothes, tucking the pocket watch safely away. "Okay lead the way, you know more about this place than I do." He states as he finishes lacing up his boots. "Oh I'm not sure about that. Soon your memory will come back and you will have more information and stories you can tell me about your past." She flashes lightly "This way. We need to escape before the Fallen are upon us. Just be careful this building is in ruins and is falling apart as we speak."
Once outside the building the head deep into the city looking for cover and possible transportation. "What is it we are looking for out here?" He asks as they duck into a low building to get out of sight. "We are looking for a jumpship or a sparrow. Anything we can use to move faster. A jumpship could get us to the city, if not that a sparrow could get us to one. But you need to rest now the revival process can be very taxing." She replies as the the settle into a back room that has a quick escape if they need one.
"So what do I call you? Ghost, or do you have a name?" He asks in a low voice as to not draw any undo attention. "I don't have a name. I've never thought about it. My interaction with others has been limited because I have spent a lot of my time searching for you. It has been a couple centuries since I've been awakened. What about you, do you remember anything, your name perhaps?" He looks down with a sticks in his hand scratching in the dirt. "No I can't remember anything." He tilts his head to the side looking at what he scratched in the dirt. "Mira? I'll call you Mira, how does that sound?" She replies beaming with light. "Mira? That sounds pretty. Do you know what it means?" "I think it means wonderful. Its the name of a star in Cetus constellation. Hmm I wonder how or why I knew that. So you do like it?" With cheer in her voice "I do like it. Now we just need to figure out who you are. Now get some rest."
"How about Davic? I heard it in my dreams. I'm not sure if it really is my name but sounds natural." "Well Davic its nice to meet you I'm Mira!" Mira quipped!
