"Are you sure you're ready to do this baby?" My dad asks.
"You have no idea how ready I am. I can't wait to get out there and see everything."
My dad sighs. "Okay I guess you're right. You're not a little girl anymore."
"No but I'll always be you're little girl daddy."
"I love you Nicole. Never forget that."
"I never will."
By that point I was starting to get choked up. We both got out of the car and unloaded my things. As we stood by the entrance, neither of us said anything. The one thing I wasn't looking forward to was the upcoming goodbye. Even though he didn't say it, I knew my dad wasn't either.
"So this is it I guess." I said.
"Yep."
"Dad I will never forget you and mom. You can count on that 100%. I will call you guys as soon as I land. I love you with all of my heart."
We embrace each other as we fight back the tears I knew were coming. Somehow they never did. I gave my dad a kiss on the cheek.
"I love you Nicole Lee Jones. Never forget that." My dad says.
"I know dad and I won't."
Wae hug one last time and he gets into the car. I wave goodbye as he drives off. It's finally happening. The beginning of my new life.
