Starting in college has been uuum... a lot. Lots of new people, new places, new routines, and surely not the well-known teenage-bubble also known as High School. You've found some great friends, overall you're liking the subjects and a new "every-day-routine" is slowly being formed.

Parties, beers friends, annoying parents and what not is filling the small part of your brain that isn't already occupied with......someone.....some guy you might as well say.

He's the popular one. The good-looking one. The everyone likes me and if they don't it's only because they're annoyed that everyone likes me - kinda guy. The I just bicycled to school and while everyone else look ridiculous hair all muffled I just look like someone who just stepped out of an Abercrombie-poster. The one who is sweet to everyone and knows that everyone secretly is into him and therefore is playing the mysterious guy.

Got it? I think you got it:-)

Talking a lot is only an understatement to describe what you've been doing the last few weeks. You quickly figured that it was hopeless to pretend that you weren't interested in him. Everyone else looked around in the class trying to find the place where there was the biggest chance of him sitting beside them. Trying to be the mysterious one themselves but failing for good when they start to ramble shit every time he listens just a tini tiny bit...

You quickly had a serious talk with yourself.

"He's hot"

"Right. Agreed"

"I'm young dumb and what else is riming"

"Certainly"

"Go for it girl"

So that's what you did. You haven't been throwing yourself at him, cause you do have a bit of self-respect left. You just haven't been waiting for him to start flirting with you. You had the guts to start talking to the boy. "Young and dumb" is still going strong, så a few awkward situations is was. Overall though it's been fun.

You drank beers, took shots and sung your heart out at parties. During the school days, you joked around meeting new people together. Getting to know each other's friends and families in your spare time whenever you weren't freaking out about the fact that you actually was spending time with the over the moon hot guy from school. The guy who actually turned out to be a real fun lad.

You were both people who talked a lot, so silence wasn't common in your friendship. Not only did I come easy talking to this guy, but is also became warningly easy to talk to him about more serious subjects like family-problems. He wasn't the guy who wanted to talk to anyone and everyone about stuff like this and you knew better than to tell the whole school.

One night you sat eating dinner at home with your family when you hear a knock on the door. Your family hadn't met him yet but surely they knew about him. They knew you had been spending time with him, they knew about your friendship and thanks to your elderly brother also attending the same college they also knew about the dancing at parties and so on.

But anyways your little sister went out to greet whoever was at the door. She opens the door total silence coming from the living room. Everyone wanted to know who it was.

"Hi", she says even before the door is fully open.

"Hi, um, is Y/N home?" He said eyes red, hands clenched and his face crumbling in sadness.

As you heard his voice from the living room you spat out the water you were attempting to drink. You almost pushed everything over while running out in the hallway. Stopping a few metres from him you looked in his eyes. The grief from his eyes and his mouth trembling was enough to rip your heart out of your chest.

"Hey, Hey, Hey," You said as soothing as you could. By now you whole family was standing in the doorway. You hugged him as tight as humanly possible while wawing your family out of the room.

"Hey, Hey you. Look at me. Look at me. Whatever it is we're gonna figure it out. Hear me? It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay"

You kept whispering soothingly in his ear for a few minutes before you came back to the world. Only to find out that he was drenched and freezing cold. You quickly fetched him some towels, some of your brothers' clothing and made him a plate of food to take upstairs to your room. You pushed him into the bathroom and told him to take a shower. All the while you explained to your parents what had happened. His mother had been diagnosed breast-cancer, and the jerk that calls himself the father and ex-husband wouldn't pay for the medicine.

He had bicycled in the freezing cold from the hospital and all the way out to your house because he wouldn't wanna go anywhere else. You took out a mattress for him to sleep on, but to be honest you both knew it was only for your parents' fault. He snuggled into you all night, and in school, the next day rumours were flying around everywhere.

Really you didn't care much until half a year later when she was finally cured. It was 6 months in hell, but you wouldn't trade them for anything else. You fell in love with the love of your life, and after six months of being each other's lifelines, he finally asked you to be his girlfriend<3
