Sleep paralysis is when you experience an inability to move or speak while trying to fall asleep or upon waking up. This normally occurs for a minute or two, but it varies depending on the person. Some common symptoms are inability to move (paralyzed), inability to speak (sometimes inability to breathe), anxiety, and hallucinations (hearing voices and eerie sounds or seeing dark figures in your room). This is caused by lack of proper rest.

Origin of the story
If you are wondering how I got the idea to create this story, it is because I occasionally experience sleep paralysis. I don't get it every night, however I get them when I have to stay up till 1 in the morning to finish my homework. A few nights ago, I had my first hallucination while being paralyzed. It scared me to death since I didn't know what to do. I ended up tossing and turning for hours till I finally fell asleep with the sound of crying ringing in my head.

I told my friends about it the day after, and since they were worried, they tried to lighten up the mood. One of them asked, "Don't you see the devil if you are going through sleep paralysis?" Someone searched it up and said yes. Normally that would've scared me to death knowing that there is a possibility that I could hallucinate a devil while having sleep paralysis, but then my friend joked around and said, "I want to see that." After telling him that he was crazy, I joked back and said, "Go for it, but you'll have to be sleep deprived for a couple of days though." I think he took it seriously though... I wonder what's gonna happen.
