My book swiftly jumps from the sofa into my lap, making no sound. I stare at it, firstly believing I am dreaming. Then I look at Dr. Hutton, asking myself if he had seen my magic activating. But he is still writing in his notebook. As quickly as possible, I put my book into my big bag hanging off my chair.
I never been able use my witch powers, being the reason why no one believes me. Of course I've tried to do it; I've been looking at spells in the internet and in books and been trying every single one, without success. And now I didn't even use a spell or anything and it just happened.
I try to hide my confusing feelings, but it not really working. Dr. Hutton looks at me and then looking at the space next to him, where the book has been laying before making its way to me only seconds ago. I know what he is thinking.
"Raven", he says, standing up again, "where is the book?"
My fight-or-flight responds kicks in. I stand up, making my way to the door, my bag pressed against my chest. As my hand finds the door nob and I open the door, I take a look back. Dr. Hutton is still standing. His face tells me he is disappointed in me.
I will come back next week...
On my way home I wonder if it was the best idea to walk out of Dr. Hutton's office. When I am in an uncomfortable situation, I can't help but run. I always run, not fight. But with my powers, I could maybe change that.
When I finally arrive home, a familiar site welcomes me. There is another package in front of my door. This one is even smaller than the last one. I pick it up, go inside my dorm room and stand in my room as I unwrap the package, revealing a wooden box. There is a piece of paper on top this present, just as there was on the book.
But before I read it, I take a quickly look at content inside. It a blue quartz necklace, laying elegantly in a piece of dark red velvet. The necklace looks old but is in a good condition. I close the box again and look at the paper.
<For you, little witch> is the message on the small piece of paper that is accompanied with the. As soon as I read the message, my fingers release the small wooden box that contains the necklace.
Who knows I'm a witch? Apart of my parents and Dr. Hutton, who don't believe me, I didn't tell anyone.
After a moment of shock, I pick up the box again, inspecting the necklace thoroughly.
Maybe the person who sent me the book also send me this necklace? I compare the two papers. While the first message is written in a smooth elegant font with a fountain pen, the second message is written in capital letter and has rough shapes.
The necklace looks beautiful. Even though I have no idea who gave me this present, I can't help but to put it around my neck. As the cold metal chain touches my warm skin, an electrical force travels through my body. I go to the nearest mirror to look how the necklace looks on me. When I see myself, I think the necklace fits to me. It makes my grey eyes look blueish and contrast my brown hair beautifully.
I leave the necklace on while pacing around the room, thinking about what to do next. I want to find out how keeps sending me items, but I don't know how...
While breaking my brain up about this, Dr. Hutton enters my mind. I should apologize, even though I don't think I did anything wrong. But he couldn't possibly understand my dilemma, so I have to apologize and not him.
Should I write a letter or call him? Both have advantages and disadvantages. After thinking what I would prefer to receive, I decide on a letter. I sit down on my far too chaotic desk and while holding the quartz of my new necklace in my right hand, I grab my pen I start writing down my thoughts.
What I write is far too personal, but I do not stop. When I'm finished, I wrote five pages in total. I look at them once for a few seconds and then put them in an envelope. If I think about this any longer, I might change my mind.
On the front of the letter I write Dr. Hutton's office address. On the back I write: "Don't tell anyone about what I wrote you."
