Pretty Eyes

We sit down
on that dirty gymnasium floor, your arm barely brushing mine
I feel as though I might drown.
The teacher drones on loudly,
but all I can hear is your voice
as you tell me jokes,
make me laugh.
Do you really know how much your words mean to me?
How I cherish every moment we have together?
Do you?

We stand,
dismissed to our next class.
The others call you over
hollering to get your attention.
But you wave them away
saying "We'll talk later."
You stay beside me
holding my binder as we walk through the crowded halls
and I can guarantee,
my heart was beating a mile a minute.
We stop at my locker,
and I put my belongings away.
As I turn towards you, I notice you were staring at my face.
A small smile creeps to your lips,
a mischievous light shines in your eyes.
I would sigh
and lie
and die
and cry
just to see your eyes trained on mine.
You part those perfect lips,
leaning towards my ear.
"You have pretty eyes."
you say
I blush,
play it as a joke.
But inside I'm swooning
falling down the endless spiral
of love.
