Just Another Son

Chapter 1

      "Who's that?" Kate's new roommate pointed to a dark-haired guy just as Suzana waltzed up a cup in hand. Due to her slight buzz she felt the need to contribute to the impromptu role call. "His name is Jake and he's a bit of a player but overall a nice guy." Kate shook her head at her friend before the three of them looked back at 'James'. "Ignore her she's drunk. As for him, New Guy. Ooh, he's looking over here. Don't know much about him but I intend-" Suzana cut her off before she could mentally cheat on Pogue. "To let me find out." Kate gave a tight-lipped smile before darting her eyes away. Sarah went back to pointed at various people, so Kate could give her a vague description, leaving Suzana to occasionally chime in with any rumors that followed the chosen few around.

      "They're here." Kate stilled as she spoke and Suzana followed her gaze. "Who are they?" Sarah asked as Suzana threw back her drink. "They are my cue to leave." She went to step away and managed a few steps before Kate grabbed her wrist and spun her around. "The Sons of Ipswich. She has a history with them." The she in question elbowed Kate before giving just a bit more information. "By history she means three close friends and one ex still a friend." Kate decided to go a step further and point out Reid.

      When the guys were only a few feet away, Kate enthusiastically greeted Pogue and set to introducing Sarah to the guys. Reid automatically attempted to charm her but only succeeded in making everyone slightly uncomfortable as he compared her to his Grandmother. "Really, you couldn't think of-"
"Caleb Danvers and you don't bring my Grandmother to mind at all." Suzana shook her head at Caleb and Reid before hugging them all briefly and slapping Reid upside his head. "Take notes next time and I don't know, learn to flirt, Dumbass." She said to him as she watched one Kira Snider saunter to their little group before placing herself between Sarah and Caleb. "How was your summer?" Suzana scoffed before walking back to Sarah so that the girl would have backup for the confrontation that was bound to happen. "I'm Kira."

     "Sarah." Kate's roommate replied with a polite smile on her face. Kira was picking for a fight and no Spenser newbie should have to deal with the slut of Spenser. "From Boston Public. How does one get into Spenser from Public?" Kira asked, her words laced with venom. "Unlike you, she got in from grades. You used Daddy's money and by turning your legs into revolving doors for multiple board members." Suzana smiled sweetly and would have taken another shot if not for Caleb stepping in. "Why don't you two give it a rest?"

     "Why don't you give it a rest?" Aaron stated as put himself between Kira and Caleb. "Oh look, pretty boy with an attitude." Suzana muttered and Caleb looked at her with slight distaste before returning his gaze to Aaron. "I don't want any trouble." Suzana opened her mouth to fire off another remark but no words left her lips. When she looked around she noticed that Reid had looked away from Aaron so that he and his goons wouldn't see his solid black eyes and signature smirk. "You posers make me wanna puke."

     "Is that right?" Reid snarled, his eyes having returned to their normal bluish color. "Let it go." Caleb ordered.

      Suzana listened to Caleb and Aaron trade a few harsh words as she fixed her gaze on the quickly approaching New Guy. He slid between Caleb and Aaron before it could get too heated all the while laughing before turning directly to Kira. "You were being kinda bitchy." Suzana put her hand at her mouth to keep her laughter contained and turned away to gain control over herself just as someone stared to barf. She knew one of the guys caused it when she noticed it was the one who said he could puke. Well be careful what you wish for.

      "Guys, Uhh, Guys! Dylan just called. He said he saw three cop cars headed this way on Old Dell Road." With that, everyone scattered to wherever they had parked. "Need a ride?" Caleb asked and instantly Suzana stuck her hand up. "No, Sarah drove us here." Kate replied.
