Chapter 12

I had to wake up Nash at 7am so he could get ready for school. And I had to go to the school board.

"Hey Nash, I'm going to go to the school board okay?" I said trying to wake him up.

"I want to come with you."

"Okay well you're going to miss school..."

"I know I don't mind." He said getting up.

I got up from his bed, "I'm going to go to my house and get ready you can meet me there."

"Okay babe see ya there." He said. I pecked his lips.

I started walking back to my house. I got there and opened the door. "Shawn?" I yelled. He must have overslept. I ran to his room, he was sitting on the edge of the bed. "Shawn." I said.

He turned around, "There you are."

"Don't you want to get ready for school?"

"Mack I'm really sick. I went to the doctor and it's food poisoning. Don't you need to go to school?"

"Well that's what I was about to say. I'm going to the school board. I want to do online school..."

"Oh, so you want to stay here alone all the time."

"No it's not that, well kinda. I'm just tired of getting bullied at school and it's just going to get worse."

he nodded. "Okay, I'm going to go downstairs and go back to sleep." He walked to the door.

"Okay sleep good!" I said and walked to my room. I grabbed another outfit and jumped into the shower. I shaved my legs, why do I do that when I'm nervous? I got out and blow dried my hair and left it down natural which is straight. I put on my clothes, a sleeping with sirens band shirt, skinny jeans, and black vans. I went back in the bathroom and did my makeup. I grabbed my phone and went down the stairs. Nash was down there watching something on TV. "Hey." I said and smiled.

He stood up, "Hey, ready?"

"Yep!" I went over to Shawn and kissed his forehead. Nash opened the door for me and we went to his car.

"So for this MagCon Brent Rivera is going to be there..." Nash said.

"Oh cool! Is that bad."

"Well at the other events he's been at with me, he acts like a total love bird whenever I mention your name. Is he following you on Instagram?"

"Yeah. I mean, yeah we talk but not a lot. We're just friends." I said and smiled.

"Okay..." He trailed off.

We pulled into the school board parking lot. I walked in with Nash following me. "Hi!" I said and waved to the lady at the desk.

"Hello, are you miss Mendes?"

"Yes. I called earlier this morning."

"Okay so our online school, it is $500 dollars a year. But your first month is free." She said.

"Okay, that sounds good!" I said.

"Alright just sign here. You can start next week!" She said and took the papers into the other room.

I looked over at Nash and gave him a high five.

We walked back to his car, I guess he's still agitated with the Brent thing. I mean he's kinda cute. But I wouldn't mess around with him when I'm with someone else. Nash is just paranoid that's what'll happen, which it won't.

He pulled into my driveway. We got out and went into my house, Shawn was still laying there hopelessly.

I went to wake him, and tell him to take his medicine. I shook him, he wouldn't wake up. "SHAWN!!" I checked his pulse. A very soft slow pulse. "NASH! NASH CALL 911!" I yelled trying to get Shawn up.

We had been in his room in ICU. Hailey came, and hugged me. "Hey. How's Shawn?" She asked.

"Not good. He had food poisoning and I was going to wake him so he could take his medicine, but he wouldn't wake up." I said.

"Oh that is bad."

I smiled and walked towards Nash. "Do you want to get something to eat babe?" He said putting his arm around my shoulder.

"Sure, Hailey you want anything?"

"No I ate before I came!" She said and sat down in a chair.

We walked into the cafeteria, and got some food. I just got pizza. Nash and I sat at a table together. "I wish you were staying at my school..." Nash said.

"Nash, this is the best for me. I have tried going there for years. It's just always seemed to be horrible." I said.

"I'm sorry, I truly am. I'm sorry about everything." He said standing up crying.

"Nash it's okay."

"NO ITS NOT!! Ya see I did this to your arms." He said pulling up my sleeve. "I feel awful about everything..." He added sitting back down. "I shouldn't have said that to you. That was so mean, I can tell why you don't want to be my girlfriend-"

"I love being your girlfriend!"

"You didn't in the beginning..." He trailed off.

"Nash, I love you. I love you more than anything. But doing the online school is better for me...and for you." I said under my breath.

"Oh my god Mackenzee. Why would it be better for me? I have no one, no one I can trust without them telling anyone. I can't trust anyone,except you. You're beautiful and I love you." He said and pulled me into a hug.

Then I received a text message from the blocked number.

"Mmmh another fight? Maybe I can break this one up for good...Xo"

"Shit." I said. I looked all around the cafeteria.

"What?" He asked. I showed him the message. "Let's go." He adds and gets up quickly. We throw away our food and go up to Shawn's room. I heard Hailey talking to him. Nash was about to go in there, I held him back, and put my ear to the door.

"Shawn, I'm sorry this happened. You used to be my best friend. You meant everything to me. But you became popular and left me for the dust. I wish we could be the way we used to be but, I'm not popular. And all the girls that like you is basically...all of them. They would run me over to get to you. Just remember you can text me or call if you ever need to..."

I looked over at Nash. What the hell...they were friends? I knocked on the door. "Hiiii." I said. I sat down beside Hailey and Nash stood in the corner. She smiled.

Shawn was awake. I guess that's why Hailey was talking to him. "Hey Mackenzayy!" Shawn said.

"Hey!!!" I said excitedly. I'm glad he's finally awake...
