Y/n's POV
You knew you had to start it. The conversation I mean. He just fought your ex a couple hours ago. You haven't talked much since that. Just a few 'are you ok's'. "So," you said weary and nervous. You forgot that emotion. You had kept it tucked away for so long. You almost liked it. It reminded you of your childhood, your mom. And your brother. You had never really met your dad. He was "sent off to war" when we were young. He wasn't really going to war, you knew that. You knew about the waitress, the fights, and the lies. But your brother didn't. He was always more naive than you. He believed what he wanted to believe. You noticed Ethan staring at you. You remembered that you had started talking. You wanted to break the tension. It was killing you. "He's a nice guy huh." It had worked. Ethan was laughing.
"I bet he was fun at parties." I pondered on that. No, he was not fun at parties. You didn't even go to a lot of parties. It's not like you weren't invited, your relatives were popular, you were left as the runt. Runt. Is that what people thought of me? No, they couldn't have. Right? The runt was your cousin, Marissa. She was short, with boy length hair, glasses that didn't fit the frame of her face right, and she had no friends. Well, she had one. Ber name was Jessy. Jessy wasn't the nicest, but neither was she. I wish that was the reason they didn't work out. They were rotting each other. But no, they stopped being friends because Marissa was gay. Marissa did not have a crush on Jessy, in fact she had a girl friend. She was nice- edgy, but nice. Her girlfriends name was Alice. One day Alice and Marissa were hanging out. I knew that, they told me. What I didn't know is that they were both going to die on their date. It wasn't a suicide or a homicide. They got in a car crash. A bad one. The worst part was, Marissa never told anyone but you and her sister, Kylie, she was gay. Kylie forced you not to say anything to anyone, so you didn't. You haven't seen Kylie in a while.
"Hey, do you remember Malissa?" I wondered if he remembered how devastated nobody got. As I said, she was the runt. Nobody cared. But I did. And so did Kylie.
Ethan looked at you. "Yes. And I'm sorry about what happened to her." It was things like these that make you regret not being closer to him back then. You never talked really. You two only really talked twice. Who the best Super Mario Bro's character was (It's Waluigi btw), and Malissa's death. "Why are you asking me?"
"Do you wanna visit Kylie?"
"Sure."
