The day started off like any other; woke up. Talked to her best friend Lydia while she looked for something to wear. Showered, brushed her teeth and out the door.
Grabbed breakfast with her childhood friend, Isaac before heading to her job at the Ironhide Banking. She was tech support.
Malia loved what she did but everyone except Lydia treated her like crap.
Until their private conversation was leaked.
M: I love my job but I hate working here. You're the only one who appreciates me.
M: Raph is such a tool. The only good thing about him is his son.
Damn! Scott is so sexy. He can be the boss of me anytime.
Etc...etc...etc. Among her fellow coworkers, her boss Raph, was amongst the ones that received the email. At which point, she was called into his office, chewed out and immediately fired since she didn't like working there.
Everyone laughed and cheered as she packed up her desk. That's when she had a talk with Lydia.
"I can't believe he's firing me.
I mean...how did that conversation even get out? Someone obviously hacked our accounts. I'll get to__"
Malia stopped when she saw Lydia laughing. "How is this funny?!"
"Whoo. I'll save you the trouble. It was me." Lydia wiped away a tear.
"That's funny." Malia laughed and hit her playfully on the arm.
"Wasn't a joke. I leaked the emails." Lydia said unapologetically.
"You? Why...would you do that to me? I thought you were my friend." Malia said sadly. Looking at her now.
"Please. Like I would ever actually be friends with you. I did it because I was bored and you were__are...pathetic. That's it, really." Lydia said. Tears began to well up.
"So our entire friendship was a lie?" Malia asked.
"Finally catching on." Lydia said.
"You shouldn't have done that."
Malia said. Feeling the dark rising.
"Oh boo hoo." Lydia said sarcastically.
"I hope it was worth it." Malia said. And as she gripped her box of items, she walked out in silence.
She jumped in her car and drove to the local bar Shanks for a midmorning drink. She deserved it.
Couldn't blow all her money on booze because she had to survive until she got another job. That's when she encountered him.
"Why so serious, kiddo?" He asked.
"Someone who was supposed to be my friend humiliated me and I got fired." Malia said dryly and ate a nut.
"Yikes! That calls for another drink." The man signaled the bartender.
"If you're trying to get me drunk so I'll sleep with you, you might get lucky." Malia slurred.
"No...no. I want to help you.
I have a position open for A/V specialist over at my Media company, AWN. Heard of it?" He asked.
"Of course! The only place I go to watch all my monster and SciFi movies and TV shows."
Malia said excitedly.
"How would you like to be part of it?"
"Why me?" Malia asked suspiciously.
"Why not?" Was his simple response.
"Cause that's not cryptic." Malia rolled her eyes. Making the handsome older man laugh.
"I like your skepticism. If you want to find out more about my motives or the job...give me a call." He gave her his business card.
Alpha Wolf Network.
Executive: Peter Hale
552-179-47

Malia let herself into Isaac's apartment and helped herself to his food because she stress eats.
"Again, woman? You can't just let yourself into my apartment, whenever you want." Isaac said.
"Then...why did you give me a key?" Malia asked, eating his Pringles.
"You got me there." Isaac admitted defeat and took the can from her.
"Rude! So I got fired today because some emails came out about how much I hated working there, my boss being a tool and how hot his son is." Malia explained.
"That sucks. I'm sorry." Isaac said.
"Me too...anyway, it gets worse. My so called friend is the one that sent it to everyone in work. Turns out she was playing me the whole time. The slut.
After I left Hell for the last time, I went to a bar and got drunk and I met the executive of AWN. He bought me a drink and offered me a job.
Thought he wanted to sleep with me but he said that wasn't what he wanted but I can't trust anyone at this point. Except you. That goes without saying." Malia added.
"Better." Isaac said and hugged her.
"You're so sensitive." Malia laughed.
"And you've changed." Isaac said.
"What? No I haven't." Malia denied.
"Yes you have. That's why everyone takes advantage of you.
Remember all the trouble we used to get into when we were in Middle School, High School...that summer before college? You were a total badass! Now you're just a doormat." One thing Malia could always count on Isaac for was his honesty.
"But we were kids. I had to grow up." Malia said.
"You went soft since college. I doubt you remember how to be your old bitchy self." Isaac said challengingly.
"What if no one likes me?" Malia asked pacing now."
"At least they'll respect you." Isaac said. "You literally have nothing to lose."
"You're right..." Malia said.
"What was that?" Isaac asked.
"I said you were right! You get one.
I miss the real me so much! I need to get her back. I'm going to take them all down! Every last person at Ironhide Banking. And you're going to help me." Malia proclaimed.
"You're even sexier when you're a bitch." Isaac said the in his head thing outloud.
"Chill your hormones and make me a sandwich." Malia ordered. Isaac smirked and happily did as the Queen asked. She grabbed the bottle of Jack to finish it off "Hail to the bitch."
It was gone with one swig. Along with her good girl pretense.
