I snuggled into bed. Tucking the covers underneath me. Natsuhito pulled in closer. I got closer as well. Heath expanded from his body.. Snickering at the defeat of the cold that was seeping underneath the tent.
"Goodnight." Natsuhito whispered in the darkness. "Goodnight." I whispered as well.
I slept peacefully that night. Around dawn, I felt something pressed on my forehead. I scrunched my eyes shut and groaned. Turning around.
I fell asleep. The second time I woke up, I smiled and stretched my hand to the place were Natsuhito should have been sleeping. As my hand touched the futon's cold material, I turned to face his side. It was empty. The fabric cold. I got up.
He'd left. For war. Without waiting for me to say goodbye.
I felt tears sparkle in my eyes. I rubbed them away. I tried quieting my beating heart. "Come on Keiko. You have to train. You'll show him he can bring you to war next time!" I said to myself, slapping the sides of my cheeks.
Someone knocked. More like knocked on his hand. I gulped down some saliva. My throat burning because of its dryness.
"Yes?" I croaked. "Lady Keiko, General Tang is here." General Tang? The general! I thought. The one who was meant to train me. I rolled out of bed . "Tell the General I'm making myself presentable!" I yelled as I dug around for a kimono. Still hoping Natsuhito has thought of that. And of course, he had. He had put some loose black pants with ballerinas. A yellow shirt with the buttons on the left side of my neck. I slipped it on and fixed my hair in to two buns on the side of my head.
"Okay." I whispered to myself. "Make Natsuhito proud." I said, tucking a strand of hair around my ear.
