Amanda Redwood. Lights flashing in my face, people asking me for my thoughts on me going into space. I had loved the idea, I had agreed to go. I was in love with the idea of being the hotshot for my country, I was destined for greatness.
As I opened my eyes I saw an entire new world, one I had never even imagined. Looking out the window I saw stars, billions of gas balls almost seeming to twinkle. I had only been up here for seven hours and I was already feeling homesick, my world was hundreds of miles away. That is when I heard a sound I had never heard before. A growling noise, a hungry bloodthirsty noise. I stood up and began to run towards the one place I believed was safe, my pod.
As I raced towards it I clicked the bright blue button that was my only place of safety, it didn't open. It would not budge, I began to click it harder. "Come on come on open!" I yelled at the machine, something was with me, something was hungry and something was going to kill me.
I turned to see it, a large monstrous creature.
--
"They have made contact." Called a voice, large screens filled the room. Hundreds of government workers watched with sparkling eyes, bloodthirsty as well. They had sent them up together, they were calling the shots, they stopped the pod from opening, they had sent the alien creature up with her.
--
Dripping saliva, red eyes, angry noises. Red skin, ugly and hairless. The sounds of a wolf and a bear all congealed into one. I sat back against the pod, my blood racing and my heart pumping quickly. "Please..." I begged, this was supposed to be my victory, a victory of the country I lived in.
The sound of its claws scrapping against the floor filled my scenes. I could see that the monster in front of me was hungry, I could see it was calling for me. I could see it was going to eat me, and I would be dead, I would never make it to the space station. I would never make it to the history books.
It pounced, I felt its teeth crunch into my bones, my screams filled the empty space ship. I heard its growls in my ear, my blood, warm, pooling over me. I felt my world spinning, I felt myself leaving the world, darkness was consuming me.
The last thing I heard was the sound of my pod opening, the swoosh noise sending anger and sadness through me. I could have made it.
I could have survived.
