A white-cloaked woman was sitting in a park bench staring up at the moon as her baby was sleeping quietly in her arms as the sound of something landing behind her, she turned around to see two gargoyles as she smiled and she got up and walked over to them.
"Hudson, Goliath. Great to see you." She softly said as the two nodded at her greeting.
"Summer Rose is there something you wanted to show us?" Goliath asked the silver-eyed woman as she revealed them her baby girl.
"I want you to meet my daughter, Ruby Rose." She showed her sleeping baby to them as Goliath held Ruby in his arms as she woke up revealing silver eyes to him as she cooed at him.
He handed Ruby to Hudson as he chuckled, "She has your eyes Summer, she'll be a strong warrior some day just like her mother." Summer smiled as she had Ruby back in her arms as Ruby fell back asleep.
As soon as they were done talking, the two gargoyles went home as did Summer.
The years passed by as Ruby developed to a small girl.

Summer Rose packed everything for her mission as a 5-year-old Ruby tugged on her cloak with sad eyes, Summer bent down and kissed her forehead.
"Don't worry, I promise to come home, Ruby." She said as Ruby hugged her and she hugged her daughter back, Summer waved to her two daughters as they waved back, as she walked out to the forest where the rest of her team was (except TaiYang).

Night came upon fast and Summer was not back from her mission which made Ruby sad without her mother with her, her dad did say that it was probably longer than usual, but it wasn't.
Qrow came back all sad as TaiYang was crying for the loss of Summer and he hugged Ruby as she cried as well, soon Yang cried for Summer as they all went to bed.

Hudson walked up to Goliath with horrible news, "Summer Rose has died." Goliath was shocked, Summer was the best warrior there ever was.
"How?"
"Unknown."
Goliath remembered her words,
"If I don't make it back, protect my daughter Ruby please."
"I will Summer, I promise."
