1. (INT.) CLASSROOM – MORNING
Around 30 students are entering the room: most are drenched in rainwater. Coats are being hanged at the rack near the doorway.
Students are murmuring and fixing their things.
ARYA: Oh my! My assignment got wet because of the rain! (Wiping the paper with a hanky)
NORA: Lucky I slipped it in my notebook. I can’t afford to get this wet; I stayed up late just to do this. You can make that again right now. You’re good at that, right?
ARYA: It’s not that easy, you know, even if you’re a writer. The poem that we need now is one full of emotions. And for that, the right environment and mood is needed.
ZACHARY: (laughing) Everybody’s talking about the assignment. It seems like everyone did their best. (turns to his right) How about you Anthony? How did you make your assignment?
ANTHONY: (looks up from the book he’s reading) I just went to Heaven Street last night.
ZACHARY: Huh? Why do you have to go there to make ---
MS. BRANDON: Ok class, settle down. As I had told you last meeting, today’s period is allotted for you to share in class the four-stanza poem that I asked you to make about the memory you first think about when you’re all alone. So, let’s do this alphabetically.
Students will be seen reciting while focusing on Anthony’s expression.
ARYA: Look, Anthony looks kinda bothered. What’s wrong with him? Usually his handsome face is just expressionless.
NORA: Yah. And his eyes that’s full of depth looks extra shiny today – almost teary-looking. Maybe he’s just touched?
ARYA: I dunno. He’s so mysterious. But that’s what makes him more interesting. But they say that something happened that made him miss a year of school.
MS. BRANDON: Finiarel, Anthony.
Lots of murmur can be heard. Everyone was curious.
ANTHONY: There goes again the throbbing pain
Crushing my heart and pulling me down
The hurt that has become the mundane
A sea of misery that calls me to drown
I once wished we’re like Romeo and Juliet
Since they’re destined and star-crossed
But now that wish had turned to regret
Because it ended also with a life that’s lost
My heart is broken beyond repair
And only you can free from this ache
But I cannot see you anywhere
Is this a punishment for my mistake?
