Alec's POV

As we arrived at Hogwarts, there was something unusual this year, it seemed darker, but not in the way of a starry beautiful night, but more in the sense of extremely foggy air that blocked the stars.

I was wearing the ring that Magnus gave me, it's cool metallic surface providing comforting support amidst the lonely, dark nights.

We were walking into Hogwarts, the warmth of the air felt like a homely welcome. Our group was formed, which consisted of Izzy, Jace, Magnus, Clary (a Hufflepuff in the same year) and Simon (A Ravenclaw in the year above).

Magnus and I were still holding hands, as the younger years passed by, excited for the year, especially after being stuck in their houses all summer, without being able to do magic.

We were laughing, reminiscing about the old times and complaining about past DADA teachers,

" I liked Lockhart, he was quite the eye candy, I understand why many of the girls liked him, plus we didn't have to do any work as he was so vain that he literally self promoted himself every time we were there"

Magnus said, which was surprising but quite funny as well, as I exploded into laughter, which earned a minor scowl from him, which then disappeared as he lay his head on my shoulder, which was comforting and warm.

" Lockhart? Please don't tell me you were one of those fangirls, who practically swooned over him"

Then I remembered my DADA classes from second year.

" I quite liked Professor Lupin, as he seemed to understand me and he was quite calm and informed, although it would suck when he had to leave for a few lessons every month" I replied, and Simon nodded in agreement.

"Did you know he was a werewolf?" Simon asked, which stunned Izzy, and left her speechless, Magnus however simply replied,

"Yeah I overheard the trio talking about it on the last day of term"

We all nodded, the conversation fizzled out, and we continued walking until...

"Hey watch where your going Lightwood"

"Maybe you should come down from your high horse, then you might not miss him"

Magnus retorted back, Malfoy simply ignored him, and headed in the opposite direction that we were in...

Hang on! I'm convinced that Malfoy is walking back towards the trains...that's pretty odd.

"Have you realised that Malfoy is heading towards the trains"

I whispered to Magnus, who briefly replied back with,

"Probably hoping they'll take him home, I mean no-one likes him here, even Crabbe and Goyle used him for his advantages".

For a brief moment I felt a twinge of sympathy for Malfoy, for having the weight of the world placed upon your shoulders from a young age must be hard, trying to act like someone your not to purify your family traditions must be tedious.

The Lightwood family have varied over the years, overtime we have been in the most houses, we even had a Slytherin at one point, which is peculiar yet inspiring, however for the past 50 years the sorting hat has placed us into Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.
