On the night of January 9th at approximately 8:39 PM, a young woman was attacked in her southern home. Her name was Chloe Johnson. The victim was located in the living room. When police arrived on scene they found a gruesome sight. She had cuts all over her body, and one fatal stab wound to the back of her head. There was no sign of forced entry nor was anything moved or missing, so the perpetrator was someone the victim knew, someone she knew very well. There was a bottle of champagne sitting on the table, the police dusted the bottle and glasses, they had found their first piece of evidence, the perpetrators fingerprints. The police further investigated the now deceased woman’s home. The police entered the victim’s bedroom, they find an ice pick, covered in blood, laying on the bed surrounded by rose petals in a heart. It seemed to be a date of some sort. The police take the petals, ice pick, glasses, the victim’s phone, and more in as evidence.
Inside the lab they tested the fingerprints to see if the perp was a repeat offender. They didn’t find a lead, so they contacted her husband of a year. they brought him in for interrogation.
“Mr. Johnson, where were you the night of january 9th?” the police asked.
“I was with my mother, she is very sick right now… if this is about Chloe, i did not murder her… i love her even after she went and cheated on me with multiple men on that one dating site. ” he replied with a single tear streaming down his face.
“What dating site was it?” the police questioned one last time.
“It was, oh god it should be on her phone, i think it’s called Tindr. I’m not sure though.” he replied with a very panicked look on his face…
Branch’s alibi checked out and they started to search her phone and there the app was “Tindr”, they went on the app and clicked matches, they saw five profiles of the same man, trying to message her.
“huh, why did she even talk to the same guy if she was just gonna call him a “creep” everytime she matched with him?” one officer said to another.
“I don’t know, maybe she just wanted to let him know how much of a creep he is?” the officer said back.
They look through the messages to see if she met up with him, turns out she had messaged him to meet up on the night of the murder. The police then pulls him in for interrogation.
“So Mr.Torino where were you the night of the 9th?” the male police officer asked with a stern voice.
“I-i i was at the hotel with my friend…” the man replied stuttering and shaking.
‘Where do you work, Mr.Torino?” the female officer asked.
“I work at a ice sculpture shop, why?” the man asked confused.
“No reason, were you supposed to meet up with someone that night?” the female officer asked taking a sip of her coffee.
“Yes, i met up with Branch.” the man said after realizing his mistake.
“What was the name you said?” the female officer said as she perks up.
“Branch, Branch Johnson” Jake Torino said as a tear welds in his eye.
“So what time did y’all meet up?” the male officer asked.
“7:10…” Jake said looking down.
“So you know Branch?” the female officer proclaimed.
“Ye-s ma’am i do…” Jake said while twiddling his thumbs.
“Did you kill her?” the male officer said extremely stern.
“What are you talking about? Nn-o sir i, i didn’t.” he said as he started to cry.
“Are you lying to us?” the male officer started to yell.
Tension and anxiety starts to build up inside Mr.Torino.
“Yes sir, i killed her… Only because she cheated on Branch… She was nasty, she did him wrong… i-i would never do that to him…” Jake confessed, not only to the murder but to being in love with Branch…
“Put your hands behind your back. you have the right to remain silent. anything you can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you by the court. With these rights in mind, are you still willing to talk with me about the charges against you?” the male officer said as he handcuffed Mr.Torino.
Branch walked into the station to show the officers a message Jake had sent him right before he went in for interrogation. The message read: ”dear Branch, i know you may hate me for this but i killed her… before you ask why it’s because i love you and i want to be with you, forever… love Jake”
