"Alright. That concludes our meeting for today. Now get back to work!" Said my boss, Mr. Brunner.
I started to gather my stuff when someone covered my eyes with their hands.
"Wha-?"
There was a giggle before the reply. "Guess who?"
I smiled and played dumb. "Grover is that you?"
The person blindfolding me let go, and as I turned around, she grabbed one of my hands to hold.
"No, silly it's me." We grinned at each other. "What are you doing for lunch?"
I was about to reply, but my department manager, Charles Beckendorf, interrupted. "Percy! You and your girlfriend need to get out of the conference room. I have a meeting in 10 minutes with a client."
I blushed, knowing that the girl holding my hand was doing the same. "Umm, we aren't-"
"Whatever, Percy. Go get some work done."
I was pulled out of the conference room and into the break room by her hand.
Once we sat down at a table, she said, "You seemed pretty flustered by your boss calling me your girlfriend."
I blushed again. "That's because we're not dating."
It was her turn to blush now. "Well... at lunch I was hoping we would fix that."
I smirked. "Are you asking me on a date?"
"Everyone thinks we're a couple anyway so..."
I took her hands on mine and was about to speak when Annabeth Chase walked in the room.
"You're late, Seaweed Brain."
I let go of Brooke's hands and stood up. "I'll see you at lunchtime, okay?"
Brooke smiled and nodded while Annabeth angrily glared. "I'm not getting any younger," Annabeth said.
I followed her to our desks on the far side of the office and replied, "You're not getting any nicer either, Wise Girl."
She stopped at her desk which is next to mine and rolled her eyes. "You need to come up with some better insults if Wise Girl is the best you can do."
I dropped into my roller chair and asked, "How did you come up with Seaweed Brain anyway?"
"Our first shared client was an underwater adventures company, and you are not very bright."
"Hey!"
Annabeth smirked and grabbed her bag. "Get up. We have a meeting across town at 11."
I stood up and grabbed my briefcase. "With who?"
We walked to the elevator, and Annabeth pushed the down button. "Photography crew. They want us to help oversee a photo shoot for one of our clients."
The elevator doors opened, and then I remembered the plans I made with Brooke. "I told Brooke I'd meet her for lunch! What am I supposed to do?"
Annabeth stepped on the elevator and said, "Cancel it, stand her up, whatever. I don't care." She grabbed my arm and yanked me onto the elevator.
"You're terrible." I glared at her.
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "I don't get what you see in her anyway."
"Everyone else likes her and thinks she's the hottest girl in the office," I said.
"Do you?" Annabeth countered.
I opened my mouth and hesitated, looking at Annabeth. Although I'd never admit it, I'd always thought she was definitely the most beautiful woman in the office. No contest. She always looked good in her pencil skirts and suit jackets with her curly golden hair in a ponytail. I really liked her grey eyes, too. I definitely preferred Annabeth over Brooke. The problem was the fact that Annabeth hated me.
