It was a dreary and wet morning. The sky was coated in dark, grey clouds. A light sprinkle turned into a downpour. The weather fit the mood of the day, as it was the day that Patrick was going to resign. He couldn't keep his feelings buried down for any longer. He craved her. Her lips, her skin, her breath, her hair, her smile, and that contagious laugh. Damn that laugh. It was enough to lighten an entire room, to cause heads to turn in awe. He couldn't stand not being able for her to be his. He loved her, his heart beat for Ellen.
But, they couldn't be together. Not without all hell breaking loose. He was recently divorced and so was Ellen. Even though they didn't have children or anything holding them back, they had everyone else. There had already been speculations of an affair, and that that had ended their marriages. Ellen nor Patrick were happy with their spouses. Their relationships had been toxic from the beginning. Arguments, fights, speculations. None of those things were part of a healthy, happy relationship. This was why they divorced. Even if that was the truth the press would completely twist everything against them. Patrick couldn't stand the agonizing pain that came with not being able to be with the person you love, the person you cherish. And that's why he was quitting, he was done.
Patrick pulled onto the set of Grey's and parked where he always did, beside of Ellen. Shooting hadn't started for the day so Patrick went to his trailer. He gathered all of his thoughts and finalized on his decision, it was the day he was going to leave. For good. He had already written his notice of resignation and was finally ready to hand it in. Then, his thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the sound of knocking on his trailer door. He walked over and opened it to a smiling face, it was Ellen. "Good morning Paddy! I brought coffee, I was wondering if you wanted to hangout before work?" She said with a glowing smile crossing her face. The smile that Patrick had grown to love. "Sure Ellie, I uh...needed to talk to you anyways." He answered a slight smile crossing his face. "What do you need to talk about Paddy?" She asked, handing him his coffee. Her Boston accent escaped from her lips. "I'm- I'm leaving." He said in a monotone. "Leaving where, leaving what?" She asked. The words wouldn't compute in her mind. "Grey's, I'm resigning today. I want to move on to something else, race more, maybe direct or produce." He said, watching Ellen's eyes go from their blue green hue to light, sad, gray.
Ellen threw Patrick's muffin in the trash and stormed out of his trailer, not saying a word. She was angry, sad, scared, and confused. Her emotions were mixed up and overwhelming. Patrick chased after Ellen, calling out her name When he caught up with her he grabbed her shoulder causing her to rotate on her heel. "What the hell do you want Patrick?! Do you need an 'it's okay', an 'I'll be fine, you go on with your life and be happy.',?!" She spewed, all of her feelings becoming too much to hold in. "I want you to understand. I want you to be okay with me leaving." He answered, tearing up. "Understand?! Be okay?! What I understand is that I'll never get to see you, and I won't be okay! I won't be okay because-" she didn't finish her sentence before she found herself pressing her lips against his. It was a slow, gentle kiss and she pulled away quickly. If I weren't for the sudden shower the kiss would've lasted longer. "I love you Patrick, I've loved you since the day we met. Now, I have to get out of this rain so you can either come with me or you can not. If you want to talk it needs to be right now, in one of our trailers." She added. All Patrick could think about was that she said it, I love you. Their love was now out in their little bubble, in the pouring rain. "Let's talk, make it your trailer. It's closer." He answered.
Ellen and Patrick found themselves soaking wet on Ellen's trailer couch. "Patrick?-" Ellen said before Patrick cut her off. "I love you too. I love everything about you. Your smile, your voice, your laugh, your hair, your eyes. Damnit Ellen, I love everything about you. That's why I can't stay. I can't deal with us not being together.." he said, Ellen's eyes began to swell as tears started to form in the corners of her eyes. "We can be together, you see? I love you and you love me, and none of the rest matters. Screw the press and paparazzi. Hell Patrick, screw this whole show. I want to be with you, I want us to grow old together. I want to have kids, and a house, and a dog with you. Paddy I want the whole damn thing." She answered letting a tear fall from her face. Patrick quickly wiped it from her face. "I want it too." He answered, he cupped Ellen's cheeks and kisses her passionately.
Patrick's tongue asked for access and Ellen allowed. Their tongues danced to the sweet melody of the rain. Patrick slid his hand up Ellen's back and deepened the kiss. Ellen pulled away and looked into Patrick's eyes while wiping a curl away from his face. "Make love to me Patrick." She breathed out in an almost inaudible sound.
Patrick drew a quick smirk across his face and picked Ellen up from the couch, he took her to her bedroom and kissed her. All of her. They made sweet, sweet love until it was time to film. This was only the beginning of their story, their life. Their love.

I know that this is only 1,000 words but I wasn't wanting to write on my other story because of lack of inspo. This is basically just one of the hopefully many oneshots in this collection. I hope you enjoyed this little bit of dempeo love! 💞
