A/N: so the first few chapters are probably going to be fairly short, so I hope you don't mind. It should get longer as time goes on. Anyway, enjoy!
When I was a child, I was obsessed with the story of Atlantis. I had always found it very suspicious that no one had ever been able to find it, and so most assumed it didn't exist. So, determined to become the one who discovered the lost city, I became a marine biologist and deep sea diver. For years, I studied animals, from whales and sharks to the smallest creatures, such as clownfish and seahorses. I also studied ruins that laid below the waves, always hoping that it would have some clue as to where Atlantis would be. And finally, on the day of my twenty-third birthday, I was chosen to go on a submarine as an expert on ruins and sea life on a discovery submarine after the company I worked for had found an absolutely gigantic mountain formation that lay completely under the waves. And the kicker, the mountain was supposedly completely hollow, which meant maybe, some kind of life may have lived there before being taken over by water. So, after years of studying, praying, and dreaming of being able to be the one to find Atlantis may have come true.
I stared out the window, boredly awaiting any kind of entertainment. I'd never been in a submarine this long and, God, I was bored. I often didn't bother leaving my room, as since I was the only one on the sub other than the captain with my own room, only because I was the only scientist on the sub, so I had a small desk, and different, miniaturized objects to either analyze things, or to make reports to the surface. Honestly, I had no clue what they all did, so I left them alone mostly. So, I usually just wrote in my journal, or sometimes going out of the sub for objects to bring back to the surface. I was beginning to lose hope that I'd bring back proof of Atlantis. However it couldn't be told just yet if it wouldn't have been worth the trip. The captain had told us that we'd be at the mountain formation in three days, so it gave me some time to think of ways to explain the waste of fuels. However...
"Doctor Reine!" One of the few members of the crew that didn't dislike me, a diver named Jack Skye, slammed open my door. Being the jumpy man I was, I fell off my bed quite hard. "Augh...yes...?" I asked, rubbing my back. "We've found a small cave entrance nearby going down." "And? Is something special about it?" I asked, standing up and straightening my clothes, pushing up my wire framed glasses. "There are chains leading into the enterance, and a small peice of rock with some weird writing carved into it. Something might actually be down there!" Jack looked just as excited as I got when I heard of that news. "Will you take me down?" I asked, giving my signature crooked grin.
"Yeah, captain says he'll let us down as soon as we're ready." And on our way to prepare, we went.
