01 | Flashback

It was about 5 years back when it first started.

"Omg look at Hana! She's so fat!"
"She's not fat. She's a hippopotamus."
"I wonder how her parents haven't put her up for adoption!"

And they all laughed. Those were only some. There was a boy and his name was Kyungmin. He was a straight-up bully. He'd punch me and kick me until I fell on the ground.

I walk through the hallways and hear people talking about me and I look around, trying to find my locker.

"Guys! She's walking! The earth is shaking and I think we might get an earthquake soon."

And there I saw my ex-friends looking at me like I was a peasant.

"Ugh! Look at how disgusting you look. I can't believe you actually thought we'd hang with someone like you."

"Yea! I know right." She rolled her eyes. "It's scary how some people are just so gullible. What a disgrace."

I ran away and hid in the bathroom and cried. When I got out there was a boy who was holding onto his backpack straps.

His eyes were sparkling and his wire-rimmed glasses framed his eyes perfectly. His cheeks were rosy and his hair was brown and fluffy looking. He was wearing an oversized white hoodie that showed his broad shoulders perfectly. He was wearing jeans underneath.

My eyes then landed on his lips. They were plump, then he licked his lips briefly. They were nearly cherry red. His jawline could cut through wood and his eyebrows were shaped straight but looked so neat.

"Hi! My name's Daniel! Are you okay? I saw what happened just now and by the time I was gonna try and help out, you left"

"Yea I'm fine" I replied dryly.

"Wanna be friends?" He asked with a bright smile on his face.

"No, you're probably made a bet with one of those people there."

"I'm new! I moved here from America with my sister Yuna"

"Ok nevermind, I'm Hana"

And that was the start of our friendship.

"Hey, Daniel! How was summer for you?"

"It was great! When I went to Brisbane I saw so many different iconic places. Like The Cultural Precinct, Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art, and other places. I even tried meat pie!"

"Sounds like you had a lot of fun!"

"Yea. I also met a friend! His name's Jake and he moved to Brisbane a while back!"

"I'm glad you made a friend!"

"Yea! Also, you look so different now. Did you work out? Because heck, you look really fit."

"Yes, I did. There were so many people who didn't recognize me. They all asked for my number but I just said no. And when they asked me for my name. Guess what I did?"

I let out a sigh and smiled. "I whispered Hana and their facial expressions were so funny. They did this"

I furrowed my eyebrows and squinted. Jaw-dropping down so low it could reach the core of the earth. Face super red and then not too long later we both laughed out loud.
