The day is being swallowed by the night; slowly eaten and digested slower still. The night's mauve spittle is staining the marigold and medallion of the day, lines of Aegean blue teeth ripping at the seams of light. The night is a dark tiger, savoring its tasteful prey of the sun.
The land beneath the night is deserted, for with the tiger's arrival comes threat. Long gone is the time when humans watched as darkness devoured the light.I sat on the roof of my house, my hand intertwined with my girlfriend's. I look up into her beautiful green orbs as a small smile appeared on my face.
"What?" she giggled out.
I gently brush her short maroon hair out of her face, "Nothing." I look back at the sky.
"Do you regret dating me?" She asked, doubt filling her voice.
"What type of a question is that? I'd never regret dating you." I say with a slighter sterner voice. Those type of questions annoyed me. I don't know why but it just annoyed me. I mean why would you ask me something like that?
"Do you have anything you regret?" She asked me as she tightened her grip around my hand. My smile grew bigger than it already was.
"yes . . . I do. And it's not asking you out sooner." I look up and her and pull her into a hug. When we pulled away, my body felt a bit cold, but immediately went away.
She kissed me and the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. Her hand rested below my ear, her thumb caressing my cheek as our breaths mingled. She ran her fingers down my spine, pulling me closer until there was no space left between us and I could feel the beating of her heart against my chest.
