"Right. So let's get straight to it. Inside the Great Hall is every Hogwart's student in school, they are sat at their house tables. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The sorting hat will place you in your houses, once you have been placed, you shall sit on the table with your other house mates." Professor Mcgonagall spoke the same words she had said every year to the new first year's, yet she said it with the same enthusiasm as always.
Amounst the first years was Calias Riddle, the grandson of Voldemort, but he had't told anyone that yet. He hadn't actually spoken to anyone yet, he was more of a thinker than a speaker.
They were lead through the huge doors into the Great Hall, all the new 1st years were staring all around, amazed by the cieling and the tables full of people, except Calias. He acted as if it was nothing special, he looked straight ahead, at the back of the crowd.
"When I call your name, you will come up here and sit on this stool. I will place the sorting hat on your head, this will decide your house." Professor Mcgonagall started calling out names, Calias recognised some surnames.
"James Potter." This one, Calias recognised as the son of Harry Potter, but he still showed so emotion.
James sat slowly onto the stool and the hat was placed onto his head, you could hear the slight murmering from the hat, trying to make it's decision.
"Hufflepuff!" Shouted the hat, it echoed the room and a large wave of cheering came from the Hufflepuff table. James grinned and ran down to the table to join the rest of his house.
"Roxanne Weasley." Said Professor Mcgonagall, and Roxy was quickly sorted into Slytherin, which was unusual. She was the first Weasley to be in Slytherin, but the table still cheered and welcomed her.
And the list went on.
"Louis Weasley."
"Hufflepuff!"
"Rose Weasley."
"Gryffindor!"
"Calias Riddle." Looks were exchanged around the room, had they heard what they though? A Riddle at the school? How was this possible?
Calias slowly walked up to the stool, with his head held high and a straight face, he sat down on as the hat was placed onto his head. He could hear the hat clearly now.
"Hmm... A Riddle... Well, this is a first...I believe that your mother came to this school? But your father didn't... Hmm... You've got corage, but... You're very smart... Not so loyal though.. Hmm..." The hat was on his head for the longest time out of any of the other students, Rose had a long hat stall, but this felt even longer.
"I think it will have to be... SLYTHERIN!" The Slytherin table roared with cheering, but unlike all the other students who'd been sorted, he walked down slowly and emotionlessly.
He sat down and people patted his back, but he was still recieving strange looks from all around. He felt looked straight ahead of himself to see a girl staring back at him, whispering quietly to the boy next to her. He recognised her as Roxanne, she had extremely curly hair that was a light brown colour, it was quite long. She leaned across the table, as if to talk to him.
"So.. You're a Riddle? Are you related to Voldemort?" People were no longer scared of his name, so the name Voldemort was spoken a lot more now.
Calias nodded, but didn't speak.
Questions were being thrown at him from all around now, but he kept his face straight a head.
"How are you related?"
"Who are your parents?"
"What do you think about what Voldemort did?"
He suddenly felt a strong grip on his shoulder, everyone stopped talking and sat back down, Calias turned to see a teacher who he'd never seen before.
"Now, children. Leave the poor boy alone, he's just arrived and we'd like to give him a comfortable welcome."
Calias knew that the questions would keep coming, no matter how many times people were told to stop asking. But he'd been asked questions all his life, people didn't seem to realise that maybe there are some questions even he doesn't knwo the answer to.
