Chapter 5: Sorting

Caiden P.O.V.

Professor Malfoy apparated me to the train station along with Draco and Loki. "I will see the two of you at school, okay?" He said, hugging Loki and Draco. "Stay out of trouble Mr. Evans." He said sternly to me before apparating away. "C'mon Lok, the others are probably on the train already." Draco dragged his brother away, leaving me to fend for myself. 

Dragging the heavy trunk behind me, I struggled to get it up the steps. Giving up, I shoved it back onto the ground and sat on top of it. "You okay?" Someone said behind me. A gentle hand touched my shoulder and I looked up. "Need some help?" I nodded and stood up "Please." I whispered, "Sure thing kid. What's your name?" He asked "I'm Aiden Riddle, this is Jayden Lupin, Tyler Lestrange and.....Sal is somewhere around here." "I'm Caiden. Caiden Evans." "Where you sitting Cade?" Jayden asked, I shrugged "I don't know. I was trying to get my trunk onto the train to find someplace to sit." "Well you can sit with us. What house you in?" "I'm a first year." "Ah!" Aiden smirked "You'll be in for an adventure this year then. Let's go." Jayden and Tyler grabbed my trunk and carried it onto the train. Aiden lifted me onto the train and then steered me to the very back compartment. 

"What year are you in?" I asked softly as I settled down beside the window. "Tyler is a fourth year. Jayden's fifth year and so am I. Sal is also a fourth year though. Tyler's a Raven, Jayden's a Gryffindor with Sal and I'm a Slytherin. So who are your parents?" Aiden asked. "Lilian Evans and James........Potter." I whispered the last word hoping he wouldn't hear. "That means we're half brothers. Sweet! I always wanted a brother." Aiden smiled happily, "Who are your parents?" "Tyler's parents are Bellatrix Black-Lestrange and Lysander Lestrange. He has a little brother named Lucas who'll be starting this year as well. Jayden's parents are Rylen Frost-Lupin and Remus Lupin. He's got....what...3 little siblings. Twin brothers who'll be starting this year and a sister who's 7?" "She's 8." Jayden said smiling "The sweetest little girl ever." "My parents are James Potter-Riddle-Gaunt and Thomas Riddle-Gaunt." 

The compartment door slid open and a black haired boy walked in. He seemed vaguely familiar to me. "Hey guys. Who's the kid?" "My half brother." Aiden said "Caiden, meet Sal. Sal meet Caiden." I gasped as I finally got a good look at him. "Sally?" He smiled gently and scooped me into a hug "Baby Cade!" He crooned. I giggled and hugged him back. "I take it you two know each other?" Jayden asked, I nodded. "Sally was my best friend, until he disappeared." "I was rescued, Cade. I'm with my parents now." "Oh." I whispered sadly "Why didn't you take me with you? Why did you leave me?" "I didn't want to. I had no choice, they almost killed my mom. I had to leave." "Oh. Okay." I sat back down, pulling him down as well. "I guess I should say my parents are Sirius Black-Greyback and Fenrir Greyback. I have 5 siblings. Theodore (Teddy) is a seventh year, Alexander is a fifth year. Sammael is a first year like you. Then there's Leo who's 9 and Kyler who's 4." 

We continued talking the whole ride there. Sal bought me some treats from the trolley and then let me fall asleep on him. I was soon woken up when we neared Hogsmeade station. "Okay, go with Professor Lupin. He will lead you and the other first years to the great hall to be sorted." Aiden said softly, lifting me off the train again, "I'll see you in the great hall." "Okay." I whispered. He hesitated before swooping down and kissing my forehead, then walked off with his friends. I stumbled over to the group of first years and followed them. 

We traveled across the black lake and up the front steps of Hogwarts. The professor led us into a room and shut the door. "You will all wait here until we are ready for you. Behave!" He said sternly and walked out quickly. Chatter quickly filled the room for several minutes before Professor Lupin returned. "We are ready." He led us out of the room and into the massive hall. 4 tables lined the floor and a fifth one was up on a dais, where the teachers sat. "When I call your name, you will come forward and be sorted into your house."

I stumbled my way to the Slytherin table after being sorted. Walking along to the end, I was pulled into Aiden's lap. "You can sit here." I blushed and shook my head. "Fine then sit beside me. I want you close. I don't want you getting hurt." I nodded and slid onto the bench beside him. Headmaster Riddle stood up and said a few words before nodding. Food appeared on the table and Aiden smiled at me "Dig in." I smiled back shyly and began eating.
