A/N: Hey everyone! It's my first oneshot. I hope y'all like it!
Amelia x Ella IS canon, as it happened in the past, but Amelia now is Scarf, and she loves Soap. <3
------------------------------
Amelia sat down next to the shimmering lake, sighing as she stared across it. She was waiting for Ella, her girlfriend, to show up to their first "date"- well, the first one their families knew about. More like Ella's family though, since Amelia's wasn't as approving of her dating a female.
I love her. That's what counts. Amelia thought to herself, dark gray fur shimmering in the glow of moonlight. She looked down at the bandana around her neck- half blue, half red. She knew she was early to the date- about fifteen minutes early. Ella wouldn't be arriving for a while yet.
She looked across the lake. She remembered this was the exact spot that her and Ella had met- back at a day camp, when they were young kits. Their parents had actually set up the meeting- Scarfkeeper meet Au Defender's child, she guessed.
Ella wasn't originally the next Au Defender. She knew that Eli was, but... something had happened.
Amelia sighed, looking at her watch as Ella raced in, yelling "I'm so sorry!! I'm late!!"
Amelia chuckled. "I set your watch a few minutes in advance. I know your patterns."
Ella blushed madly. "Ahahahaha! Yeah... I'm always late, aren't I..."
Amelia nodded. "But that's okay! You're my lil' clumsy, late Defender." Amelia nuzzled Ella, her soft white fur snelling of raspberries. Their scents went well together- Amelia always smelled of strawberries, and Ella always smelled of raspberries.
Amelia felt Ella flinch back, and that snapped her back to reality. She had forgotten Ella didn't like to be touched.
"I'm- I'm sorry, I forgot-" Ella quickly hugged Amelia, causing her to blush madly.
"It's okay. It's just a stupid fear. I love you" Even with those words, Amelia felt Ella freezing up, and she could smell the fear on Ella.
Ella soon let go, sitting down next to Amelia to stare at the lake. Amelia sighed. "Remember this place?"
Ella nodded. Her dark green eyes shimmered. Amelia smiled. "Remember when Blue got stuck in the tree?" She mewed, looking over at Ella.
Ella laughed. "And he screamed so loud it scared the crows across the lake?"
Now it was Amelia's turn to laugh. "Yeah! And when Eli tried to get him down, but he got stuck up there too?"
Ella laughed loudly. "Girls to the rescue, even then."
"Hey, I had to save all of you in the end! And I'm the one scared of heights!"
"Hey, if it weren't for me, your sorry butt would be at the bottom of the lake!"
They were both laughing, remembering when Amelia thought she was drowning when she could have just stood up.
"You have to admit, I was a stupid kit!" Amelia giggled, sighing happily.
Ella was close to crying from laughing so hard. "Don't forget when Blue threw a beetle on me and I screamed from fear, haha!"
"That wasn't even a beetle! I think it was a grasshopper, pfft."
Ella was now leaning on Amelia. "There were so many memories here."
Amelia sighed. "Yeah. Good or bad, it doesn't matter."
Ella turned to Amelia. "Hey Amelia?"
Amelia turned to her. "Yeah?"
Ella booped Amelia's nose with a green paw pad. "I love you, you goofy fluff ball."
Amelia stuck her tongue out cutely, crossing her eyes best she could. This made Ella laugh madly, and Amelia laughed as well, falling on the ground in a heap of laughter.
Ella, while giggling, helped Amelia back up, sighing after the laughter attack.
They were happy and in love.
And that was what mattered to Amelia- shouldn't that matter in every relationship?
