Ch 4. Maybe It Is, Maybe It Isn't.

Meliodas's POV

After calming down enough I landed, letting my anger very slowly wash away. I studied (y/n)'s condition as I walked back to the tavern silently. There was no doubt she probably felt like the cause. "......I'm sorry." She whispered, confirming my wonder.

"No I'm sorry, I should have never left you alone.... What type of man am I? You're pregnant for pete's sake..." I muttered silently, I felt so terrible. She could have had so much happen... She did have so much happen. She sniffled and nodded some.

"Yeah...I'm pregnant... But you're important, a major part of the safety that the king and everyone here needs..." I sighed heavily, a burden on my chest.

"I can't even save you....I barely saved you when you... you tried..." The words couldn't come out, my throat felt as if it was closing and I couldn't breath. "I could have lost....." I started shaking some as the scenes from the bathroom played over and over. "And then I leave you alone like a retard! I could ha..." I trailed off as hands cupped my cheeks and I looked down at (y/n) through blurred vision.

"But you didn't..." She reassured me wiping the streams off my face that was soon replaced by fresh tears. I held her closer to me, making sure she wasn't a figment of my imagination as I fell to my knees, sobbing into her chest. She rubbed soothing, loving circles on my back.


(y/n)'s POV

I tried calming Meliodas down as best as I could, but in the back of my mind I knew he just needed to calm down and remember that he can't lose me so easily. "I love you." I smiled softly into his blonde hair, reminding him that I was right here. I was always so caught up in my dark thoughts I never really took time to consider the dark thoughts he got.

"I-I love you too.... But I love you more..." He whispered. I smiled, moving my hands to his face moving it to look at me.

"I love you even more." I kissed his forehead softly, noticing him watching my every move. "I'm right here. I won't go anywhere. I couldn't imagine you having to go through anything like that day. I won't let it happen."

"I barely...." He whispered. "And then... I left you in your dimension..." His voice got quieter, and I swept his blonde bangs out of his face. "Then I left you at the tavern. Every time something happened it was because I left!! I left you alone in the bathroom and went to the principal's office. Next I left you.. I watched you as I teleported here.... I saw your heart break, but never thought I'd be a father leaving everything behind! Then what do I do?! I leave you alone with a pig who can't do anything! I can't save you! I put you, and our baby in danger every day... So how can I save a whole place of people....?" I watched his eyes as his voice wavered between yelling and becoming almost extinct. I didn't know what to do, what to say. I couldn't think of anything that would make him feel better, so I sat there staring into his watering eyes. He looked away and started standing. "You must believe I'm right. Because you're silent...." He whispered. I stood quickly, wrapping my arms around him, yes I was silent, but I tried to show him my care in the hug.

"No words can make you feel better, I know.... This pain I've felt when I know I can't do anything to stop the world we live in..." I whispered, looking at the sky with my head sitting on his. "But love and affection is a major thing we need in our life and I try to give you it, because you give it to me." I took in his scent while I felt him relax. "Please don't think you're not good enough. I love you, and I plan on being by your side till I can't be. And it won't be your choosing, but it'll happen..." He sniffled and looked at me.

"Can we go and make sure the fire's put out and head to the castle...?" He asked lowly.

"Of course..." I smiled and tightened the hug before letting him go and holding his hand while walking.


Diane's POV

I sighed softly watching the couple start back on their journey home. "King, how's it coming? They're on their way." I whispered, before turning my head to him slightly.

"Almost done. Does it look fine?" He asked. Merlin fixed the last part with him, and he sighed heavily falling onto the bear plush form of Chastifol. Carefully I sat down, and awaited them to come back. I thought on the look I could barely see on Captains face and the way (y/n) calmed him down. But I wasn't going to let the others know I saw that.

"Diane...?" (y/n)'s quiet voice traveled through the stiff, cold air. I looked down to see her looking up at me, Meliodas leaning on her as if asleep. She gave me a look that spoke 'help me!' I nodded and picked them up, before turning towards the renovated tavern. "W-wha...?" She spoke in a soft voice, trying not to wake up captain no doubt.

"King and Merlin fixed it! We came here as fast as we could after Captain spent a while away. Seeing the tavern in flames wasn't the worst part, honestly... But you and Captain were missing. And that stirred up that either he came here and you guys were taken, or he went after you." I smiled. "I'm so glad you guys are okay." I looked at the blonde move around and hold onto (y/n).

"Thank you guys." (y/n) looked to me then the others. "I'm sorry I caused so many problems.. You see.... The ten commandments came after me, and Meliodas had to save me..." Everyone exchanged a weird look before raising a brow at the (h/c) female. "My...." She trailed off, pointing to her stomach. My eyes widened before narrowing.

"After your child? Why!?" Her sorrow filled (e/c) eyes moved to Meli and looked at me.

"Could we please take him in first? I'd rather explain knowing he's sleeping peacefully. He's had to much happen already." King came over and I dropped Meli on Chastifol lightly and King carried him in. After he arrived back to us (y/n) started. "I just made dinner and put away the rest so you guys could eat tomorrow.. And they showed up and forced me out with smoke... They wanted me to give them Meliodas's and my baby so he could be 'king'..." She explained slowly. "But Meliodas came and caught Zeldris before he could kick me...

"He's shaken up, feels he's a problem and causing me harm. I'm scaring Meliodas, I think I should go home.." She continued sadly.

"No. No." King sternly spoke flying up to stand by her. You leaving will put him in more distress because he wouldn't be able to see you to make sure you're safe. Just take a deep breath and go to bed. It'll be taken care of later." She nodded but I could see that she felt that 'later' might be to late.

"Besides!" I laughed some, receiving incredulous looks. "They don't know if it's a boy." I smiled some trying to lighten the deep, dark mood.

"I said the same." She laughed shakily, a slight smile on her face.

After we sent her to bed, and we made sure we could talk Ban started things off. "Attacking when they knew we'd be away. Such cowards." He sneered.

"'Knew' is the problem." Merlin quickly put in.

"Maybe they watched us for the day and tried to find the best time?" King tried to reason.

"But they had plenty of time to take her, she said she cooked, she would have had to hunt." My eyebrows furrowed as I put in my input.

"Maybe they knew roughly the time we'd leave. It is possible someone told them we left." Gowther stated matter of factly.

"Who though?" We all asked him at once.

"I don't know anyone against us...." Ban sighed.

"But someone's against (y/n)." Merlin said lifting her hand from her chin. "And she had all of us leave except her." I gasped at the person she was getting at.

"She'd never!" I started to yell, but quickly quieted down and scolded Merlin.

"She's a suspect. Until we know the real reason she was taken and almost hurt, maybe even killed. Meliodas was tense during the time he was there at the castle, yet Elizabeth had no problem trying to set him up as a pervert."

"She's right. Plus I was in between her and Ban, who was by Meliodas." Gowther sighed.

"We all need sleep." Ban stated and ushered the pink haired male, and raven haired female inside and King floated over to me.

"Please, don't leave me tonight..." I whispered.

"Didn't plan on it." He smiled, and had me lay down, before laying with me.
