My eyes opened at exactly 6:00 a.m. I looked around my bed, and saw a dark metal cell, and a girl in the corner, huddled in a ball, with cuts and bruises all over her thin body. Hmm... This isn't my room, I thought. I squeezed my eyes shut and blinked again, and my normal room appeared in front of me. I took a moment to stare outside, the sun streaming across the warm June sky. Seconds later, my mother burst into the room with breakfast in hand.

"Come on, Lace! Big day today!" She rushed over to me and set the ate down. I can't believe Graduation day is here already. It seems like yesterday that I walked in my new school, Agnes Blair High, in September.

"Well? Hurry up and finish! We have to get ready!" My mom chastised.

"Okay, okay. Jeez, I heard you the first time." I muttered.

"Okay, just meet me downstairs in an hour and a half, so we can get there in time." My mom said.

"Fine now go." I snapped. She's a loveable person, my mom. But in my opinion, she's not unlike my annoying brother, who is successful but extremely aggravating to me when he comes home from university sometimes.

I finally managed to get ready, have a quick shower, brush my hair, blow dry it, then curl it, and get dressed and have breakfast. I guess when I was having my daily Cheerios, then I realized that was when it all started.

"Hey, sweetie. You have some mail." My dad exclaimed. I picked up the envelope, and on the back, it said read after you graduate. I should have noticed. I should have thrown it away, burned it. But instead, I tucked it in my pocket, and left for school.

I'll just skip to the interesting part, so one graduation ceremony and banquet later, when I'm laying on my bed, do I suddenly realized I forgot about the envelope in my pocket. I quickly snatched it out, and tore open the envelope and looked inside. There was just a piece of paper, torn like someone ripped a page out of a small notebook. I gasped at what I saw, written in bold black letters.

'Run. And never, ever look back, Lacey Forrest. XOXO, L.B.'
