I watch Marcus closely, unable to tell whether it's him or not. "Alright, that's you Lucifer." Marcus's face turns into a cruel smirk, "How'd you know?" He asks, his voice deep and hoarse. I pause for a second, "Your eyes." Lucifer turns Marcus's face into a confused look, "Care to elaborate?"
"Your eyes aren't like Marcus. I guess that's all to it."
Lucifer lets out a loud, roaring laugh. "I know that's not it, Joshua. I would love to stay in Marcus's body, but a deal is a deal. Remember the proposition I made, if you're interested in it then tell me." With that, Marcus's eyes close, and his body leans backwards, causing him to fall and hit the carpeted ground.
After a few minutes, Marcus lets out a groan and turns onto his back. "Jesus, I can never get used to that." He sits upright and offers me a smile, "How'd it go with Lucifer?" I shrug and look pass him, staring at the exit of the log cabin. The log cabin that's now my new home, my prison. I changed my focus back onto Marcus and shrug, "It went about the same. I'm going to bed."
I watch as Marcus opens his mouth and immediately closing it. He nods and pushes himself up from the ground. I turn on my heel and begin to walk towards the makeshift bedroom Lucifer had created. I open the door and climbed into the bed, turning onto my back, and staring at the ceiling. I watch as Lucifer's shadow dances around the room. It's been two years since Lucifer took Marcus and me. After giving me a decision, and me choosing the wrong thing, he has decided to abduct us both, making us his friends. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't fond of him.
"What are you thinking about?" Lucifer asks, his shadow laying against a wall. I smile a bitter smile, "Just thinking about how you never leave me alone." Lucifer scoffs, "I'd be damned, I know you and Marcus will try to escape soon." I stare at the ceiling, letting his imagination roam.
I give him a bitter laugh, "Yes, Lucifer, we'll definitely try to escape. Especially judging from how it went so well the first time we tried." Lucifer didn't respond. Instead, his shadow slowly shrunk until it was gone altogether. After the first week of staying here, Marcus and I had tried to escape. However, we suddenly realized the only way to do so was Halloween. It was a simple answer, Halloween was when Lucifer had reappeared, it would only make sense if our way of leaving would open on Halloween.
I turn to my side and begin to debate on taking his proposition. Bringing a person here in exchange for my normal life back, I will, however, lose my memory. Though it wasn't a tough decision to make, why would I sacrifice someone's life for mine?
I lay there and ponder for some more time, unable to come up with the correct decision. My train of thought was cut short as the door began to squeak. "Josh, are you awake?" Marcus's voice was a soft whisper, almost inaudible. I sit upright, "Come in."
Marcus lets out a sigh and closes the door behind him. I watch as he flicks on the light switch and walk over to his beloved spinning chair. I run my eyes over Marcus, trying to see the changes in his features. His hair is blond hair is now longer and swooped to the right and he now has a beard. He gives me a warming and comforting smile, "Halloween is coming up soon."
I watched him, unsure if he was joking, "How do you know?"
Marcus clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth, "He accidentally let it slip, he seems anxious, maybe this could be our escape." I shake my head, "Maybe, but it seems so unlikely. Are you going to do his proposition?"
Marcus icy eyes flash with a sign of guilt but it was gone almost immediately, "I don't know." He leans against a chair and runs a hand through his hair, "It seems great, but what's the point? I won't be able to remember anything, but I'd have my life back." I stayed silent, wishing he would continue. Marcus sighs, "Maybe I will do it." I watch as he spins around the chair and immediately turns his focus to me, "Are you going to do it?"
