You woke up on your bed, but something was wrong. Your bed was far too big for you. You tried to sit up, but something wasn't right about your body. It didn't take long for you to figure out what had happened. You lept off your bed and onto your dresser, standing in front of the mirror. Looking back at you was a black cat with bright blue eyes.
You turned around and saw that your bedroom door was shut. You thought for a second, then jumped onto the handle, causing the door to swing open. You fell to the floor and made your way back down the hallway.
Everything looked different when you were a cat. You hoped this wasn't permanent, thinking back to what Sam had said. You found your way to Sam's room, the door open just a crack. You nudged it open with your nose and squeezed into his room. He was still asleep.
You hopped up onto his bed and over to him, gently batting at his face and meowing. Your didn't want to accidentally claw him again. He stirred a bit and opens his eyes. You were the first thing he saw, causing him to sit straight up in bed.
"Y/N?" He whispered. You meowed softly to him. He bit his lip, thinking for a second, then crawled out of bed, leaving you wrapped up in the covers. You fidgeted under the covers until you made your way back out. Sam turned and looked at you.
"I'll get Dean." He picked you up and gently set you on his shoulder. Only then did you realize just how tiny you were. You must have only been a kitten, because you could easily walk between his shoulders. You looked down at the ground and realized just how high up you were.
You balanced yourself carefully on Sam's shoulders as he walked to Dean's room. It might not end well if you fell off now. He opened the door to Dean's bedroom. Dean was awake as soon as the door opened.
"Sam..? Is that a cat on your shoulder?"
"Dean, it's Y/N." Dean's eyes widened.
"Oh shit." He cursed, standing up from his bed.
"Pretty much, yeah. That means you ganked the wrong witch."
"I know what this means."
"Dean, we have to find the right witch or she could be stuck like this."
"I know, Sam." You meowed in a frightened way. Sam reached up and pet your head.
"What if we both go?"
"We can't leave her here alone like that."
"We can take her with us." Sam said. Dean contemplated the idea for a second, then nodded.
"That should work, yeah." It was silent for a second, then suddenly Cas appeared. Dean was startled.
"Cas..! What are you doing here?"
"Y/N prayed to me.. But I don't see her." Dean shot you a scolding glance which Cas followed.
"Oh, a cat. When did you guys get her?" Sam held back a snicker.
"Ah, Cas.. This is Y/N.." Cas looked at you for a minute and cocked his head.
"She's a cat?"
"We had a run-in with a witch." Cas furrowed his brow.
"Do you need my help?"
"Actually, yeah." Dean put in.
"Do you think you could find the witch for us?" Cas nodded and stared at Dean for a second.
"Kentucky." He suddenly blurted out.
"Kentucky?" Dean asked.
"That's where the witch is?"
"Yes."
"Then I guess we're off." The four of you hopped in the Impala, you sitting on the backseat next to Cas. Dean started up the engine, and to you it was very different. Every bump he hit, every hole he jumped was another jolt for you. You clung to the seat, half terrified. It was close to an hour before Cas noticed you clinging to the seat. He reached over and set you on his lap. You felt a little awkward, but you had to admit it was better than sitting on the bare seat. Dean left the Impala close to the docks where the building Cas had told him was. He turned around and saw you were laying in Cas's lap.
"Sorry, Y/N, but I think you should stay here. You'll be safer." You meowed in agreement as Cas set you back down on the seat next to him.
It was a long time that the boys were in there. You worried that they might not be okay, but there was no way for you to get to them. Then you felt a sharp pain in your head. Being a cat, you weren't sure how to stop the pain, so you laid on the seat until it subsided.
Once the pain had died down, you lifted your head. Your vision had changed again. You looked down at yourself and smiled in relief. You were no longer a cat. But you were naked. You sat in the middle of the seat away from the windows. You heard footsteps from outside and pulled yourself into a ball. The door swung open and Sam's head poked in, only to pull back out immediately.
"Sorry."
"Give me some clothes please." Sam looked between Dean and Cas for clothes. Cas pulled off his trenchcoat and tossed it into the car. You sat there for a minute with Cas's beloved trenchcoat on your lap.
"Turn around, Dean." You heard him chuckle and the shifting of feet in the gravel. You stood up as much as you could in the car and slipped the trenchcoat over your arms, buttoning it up and thing the belt so it covered you completely.
"You're safe to look." Cas was first as he hopped in next to you. You had never realized that under his trenchcoat was a full suit. Once he was in, the door slammed shut and Sam and Dean hopped in the front. It was dark when you got back to the bunker. You immediately went to your room and changed out of Cas's trenchcoat, and gave it back to him.
"Thanks, Cas."
"You are welcome." He smiled. He vanished before anyone could talk to him. That's often how he was, helping until you needed him, then gone when you wanted to talk. He still wasn't much of a people person.
You sat down on the couch in the living room and prepared yourself for a full on questioning, but instead you got a hug from Sam. You were a but surprised when he lifted you up off the couch, but you wrapped your legs around him and smiled.
"What, no questions on what it was like to be a cat?"
"Those can come tomorrow morning." He smiled and kissed you and he carried you to his bedroom, shutting the door softly behind him.
