Author's Note: Boom! New chapter next day! Don't get used to this because I do still have school five days a week, but I will make my best attempt to upload frequently. Anyways, this chapter will outline the introduction of some main characters, and also, I need to explain something. The picture that is used for the cover of the story isn't supposed to be Jonathan. That's me. I just don't have any good pictures that would suffice as a replacement. If you want a visual of what Jonathan looks like, imagine a fourteen year old version of William Singe. If you don't know who that is, you're missing out. Anyways, onward with the chapter!

Hey. Jonathan here, again. After that last document you wanted to know what happened next, huh? Don't worry, I'm not gonna be a douche and just leave you in suspense. The next few hours were pretty uneventful. I made my way through the clearing and came across a city, and it was to my disdain that I discovered I wasn't even if California anymore. I was in Seattle, Washington. No wonder I felt so sick on the way here, we were on a freaking plane. That's just wonderful.

I made my way to a crappy hotel and paid for a room to sleep for the night. I needed to regain my energy if I were gonna make it out of the country. Back in California, I had a paid internship with Samsung so that's where I spent most of my weekends, but that was kind of out the window now. I couldn't go back and I just spent half my paycheck on a room. Damn, this really isn't my day.

"Hi, my I pay for a room to stay the night?" I said in between breaths. Note to self: I have super speed, but I don't have the stamina to match. Just great. I wondered what my weakness in regards to my super strength was. Also, how the hell do I have superpowers?!

"Uh, yes, but the only room we have available is a shared room. A girl about two years older than you has rights to half the room. Is that alright with you?" She asked.

I mean,  I didn't really have an option. Besides, if she was only about two years older than me than she couldn't be another FBI agent. You had to be 23, not 16.

"Of course, that's fine." I responded.

TWO HOURS LATER

After I got my room key I went to the store to get some food. I got a few suspicious looks but that was most likely because I had just been running sixty miles an hour for thirty minutes and I was incredibly sweaty and covered in dirt. I finally got back to the motel to find that my roommate for the night was in the shower.

"Are you the roommate that they told me would be here?" She asked.

"That's right" I responded in the most mature voice I could imagine. I was nervous, couldn't figure out why but I was.

I heard the running water shut off and after a few minutes, the girl emerged. She was wearing a dark blue shirt with a forest green cardigan, had brown hair with a blue beanie, grey leggings, and was wearing silver glasses. She had an inquisitive look as she regarded me. She seemed judging yet honest, as if she understood more about me than I did myself. It made me mad, yet intrigued. Damn, I really hate mystery.

"Oh hey, you're a teen, too? By your voice you kinda sounded like a man, so deep and sh!t. I guess I don't need my knife anymore, you don't look dangerous." She said as she pulled a Swiss army knife from her pocket and tossed it aside.

Okay. So this girl was at least smart enough to be suspicious of me.

"What's your name?" She asked.

"J-Jonathan." I replied. "Yours?"

"Amanda. How old are you?"

"Fourteen. The people at the front desk told me you're sixteen?" I questioned.

"Nah. I'm fourteen, too. Fifteen in a few months. I'm just tall as hell." Amanda said.

I liked this girl. Not like, romantically or anything. But she doesn't hold her tongue. She is polite though. Normally it's impossible to get both.

"So, why are you here all by yourself?" I asked, genuinely curious.

She gave me a crazy look and said "You sure you want to know?"

"Yeah. I mean, there's no way it can be worse than why I'm here." I said, rather truthfully actually. What could be worse than hearing your mother being killed in cold blood, then being taken an anonymous FBI base in Seattle because your father, who you've never met, did something having to do with some nuclear weapon and now you gotta find him to save your own ass? Yeah, try topping that Amanda.

"There was a riot here in Seattle a few days ago. People burning down buildings, shooting pistols like crazy, all of it was awful. Both of my parents were police officers. They got trapped in a burning building when they tried to stop a group of rioters. They were burned alive. I don't want to go to an orphanage, so I'm on the run."

"Oh my f*cking gosh..." Was all I could think to say.

"Don't worry about it. Me being on the run ain't that good. But my parents... They were never really around for me anyways. I'm not happy they're dead, obviously. But I can't imagine the next four years of my life would've been that nice anyways with or without them around. Tell me, what brings you here?" she explained.

I mean, I had no reason to lie to  her. We were both on the run, which DID make us both outlaws. I could trust her.

So I told her. About everything. Including my powers. She just looked at me intensely as I spoke, not saying a word.

I finished. Listen to what she said next.

"Bullsh!t." She said. "No way could your dad be responsible for the possession of some nuclear weapon. And there's no way you have superpowers. This isn't some third grade comic book, this is real life. I can't believe I just explained the worst experience of my life to some b*tch like you only for you to-"

"Where'd you throw your knife?" I cut her off. She didn't answer. I walked over to the general direction she threw it and found it. I picked it up, presented it to her, and broke the blade in half.

Not gonna lie, as bad as I felt for her, I kind of enjoyed the look of astonishment on her face. Super strength. It had its perks.

"How the hell did you just-"

"I don't know. I have no idea how this works, but it's real. Too real for me. We already know each other's secrets, and we're both outlaws by extension. We could work together." I said.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"We're both on the run. Might as well be on the run together?" I said, but it sounded more like a question.

"You sound nervous when you say that. We both don't know what we're doing but both our lives are stake. Screw it, yeah. Let's work together." She confirmed.

Hmph. Looks like we got a new friend.

Author's Note: And Chapter One as finally been released! I mean, it's only been like ten hours, but still. This chapter was mainly to introduce Amanda into the story (she's Jonathan's best friend in the story) and to help inspire myself to make more main characters. As a matter of fact, Jonathan and Amanda won't be in the next few chapters. Chapter Two is going to be from Sanders, the officer that killed Ms Sorelle, and her point of view. The next eight chapters will be setting up the other main characters so they can meet with Jonathan and Amanda when Chapter Eleven rolls around. Fun fact: this chapter and Amanda's introduction is my birthday present to my best friend (let's call her.. Rush) and Amanda was inspired by her. See you again when Chapter Two is released!
