Movie Night

I'm laying beside her in bed, HER bed more specifically. She invited me over for a sleepover about a month or two ago, but I just put it off. The only reason I'm here now is that she kidnapped me. Well not really, but still, who says let's go to the movies and ends up packing a bag of your things and then brings you to their house instead. I should have figured when she was holding a book bag and picking out clothes.

So now, here I am laying beside her, so close to the edge that one leg is on the floor and I've rested my back on the headboard so I don't fall over. She's laid beside me with a hand under her head watching whatever movie we agreed on. I'm not even sure what movie we picked, I've been zoned out ever since I realized where we were going. My eyes are focused right above the TV screen, watching this one pesky fly that got in somehow. I hear the screams coming from the TV, so I guess we agreed on a horror movie.

All I can think as I sit there is, Don't get to close, she's just a friend, she has a boyfriend. It's like a mantra, on repeat for the last half hour.

The thing is, I have a huge crush on the girl just to the right of me, barely a foot away. And it sucks because she knows, she knows that I've liked her since I met her four months ago. I was always flirting with her, and she would flirt back. Not as much as me or probably not at all. Maybe all she was doing was being friendly. But when she told me she had a boyfriend I'd pressed on the brakes so hard. Figuratively of course. But I couldn't mess up her relationship, no matter how much I liked the girl. So I sort of cut contact with her. I didn't see her as often, but we were still friends, there was no way I was getting out of it she had said, laughing as she'd drag me along. Oblivious to my poor heart being dragged and trampled beneath peoples feet.

I was so deep in my musings of the past, I hadn't noticed a scary part in the movie had come up. However, when her hand came down on my bare thigh and squeezed, both of us lost the air in our lungs. The deer in the headlights look was mirrored in each of our faces. Me with shock and her with slight worry yet, something else.

"I'm sorry Alexas, I didn't- uh I didn't mean to grab you." She stuttered as she withdrew her hand as if she'd been burned. Her big brown doe eyes looked up at me as she began to sit up positioning herself like me but cross-legged in the middle of the bed instead.

I smirked at her, tilting my head as my eyes gazed into hers. "It's okay scaredy cat, I've gotcha." I chided, as I brought an arm up behind her and scooched closer to her. she tensed slightly but before I could withdraw in fear I'd gone too far, she was holding the hand on her shoulder and playing with my fingers.

"this is okay, it's nice. You should have come for a sleepover sooner, I've missed you." She rushed and with her words, my heart gained another crack. I just pulled her closer and faked a laugh.

"It's not like I had much of a choice. You see, this crazy little latina came and kidnapped me for the weekend." I smiled a little as I said it, giving her a pointed look. She laughed while snuggling up to me, and I wished at that moment she was mine. I prayed she couldn't feel my heart beating in my chest, It was beating so fast, I had the irrational fear I'd have a heart attack,

She nuzzled into my neck, hiding beneath my mass of hair and I felt my throat go dry when her lips grazed my neck. I hoped I was just imagining it, but when I felt her lips on me again, this time accompanied by her teeth, I knew I wasn't imagining things.

"You really didn't though." She mumbled against me as she climbed into my lap.

Fun Fact: My middle name is Alexas.
