     September 23.  Journal entry one.
I'm Cam Parker.  Five days ago I died.  After that, things got really weird.

In New Mexico, more often than not, every town is similar to each other and every day seems to mirror the day before it and the day that will come after it.  This is what it's like in Roswell, at least, for teenager Cam Parker.  Every chance that she's not at school, or doing homework, she's working at her dad's local diner, the Crashdown Cafe.  You can't miss it, there's a neon green sign outside in the shape of a UFO to attract tourists on purpose.

Cam can feel the plastic antennas on her headband bouncing back and forth as she walks to the table where a young couple sits, plates in her hands. "I've got one Sigourney Weaver," she places down one plate in front of the girl. "And for you, sir, one Will Smith. Can I get you guys anything else? A martian shake, an alien blood smoothie?" she asks with a small smile.

"No, we're good, thanks,"  the guy smiles.

"Are you guys here for the crash festival?"  Cam asks the couple.

"Yeah, can't wait," the girl smiles now.  "Does your family come from Roswell?"

By the way the couple is acting, Cam knows why they're asking questions, and which ones are coming next.  She smiles like she knows something but hides it quickly.  "Just four generations."

"Really?" the guy asks.  "Uh, well," he looks to his girlfriend briefly. "Does anyone in your family have some stories about the UFO crash?"

Cam bites her lip like she's preventing herself from telling them a secret.  "Well, I guess it would be okay to show you guys this," she pulls out a paper from her pocket and they all lean forward, the couple's eyes widened as they're suddenly interested.

Cam's best friend, Ariana, sneaks up from behind the couple silently, sticking her face in between theirs.  She squints at the picture Cam holds before looking up at Cam herself with a smile.  There's a glint in Cam's eye and it's like the two are communicating in the way the two best friends are always communicating.  Ariana holds down a laugh as she walks around the table with a coffee pot in hand, wondering when a day will come where Cam doesn't freak out random tourists in Roswell with obviously fake alien pictures.

Ariana walks up to two men arguing at a booth.  "Can I get you guys a refill?" she motions to the coffee pot in her hand.

"Nah, get out of here," one of them waves her off, a scowl on his face.  As she leaves, she hears them continuing to argue, but she figures it's better to just let them have at it.

"My grandmother took this picture at the site of the crash site right before the people came and cleaned it up," Cam continued messing with the tourists.
