Toby wouldn't stop. This was the third time he had woken me up in the middle of the night to say he had to tell me something. The first time he did this was two days ago when he tried to come into my room quietly. But the door creaked loudly, and to his obvious dismay, Toby ticked and let out a sharp yelp. He came over to my bed profusely apologizing and trying to hide his face that was growing increasingly more red. I hadn't been asleep, but he wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to tell him that. He told me he had to tell me something, that it was really important and he couldn't keep it in anymore. Well I learned that was a lie, because after two minutes of stuttering beating around the goddamn bush, he told me he had forgotten what he was going to say and bolted.

It was only mildly annoying the first time, I mean, Toby has a general annoying demeanor anyway, so it didn't really bother me. But like I said, he wouldn't fucking stop. The next two nights he would come into my room (This time waking me up, mind you,) but chicken out and never even start to tell me what he apparently so badly needed to tell me. But this was the last time he was gonna wake me up. I was gonna make him tell me what he had to say and get it over with.

"Alright shithead. Fuckin' tell me what you want." I told him, sitting up in my bed and crossing my arms over my chest. Toby stared at me blankly for a minute, surprised. I could basically hear the gears turning in his stupid head. "Uh..." He said, still choking on words. This was as quiet Toby had been in a long time. I stared at him intently, waiting for his answer. "Well..." Toby said. "I just... oh my god this is so weird."

"Spit it out!"

"I'm trying!'

"Not hard enough..."

Toby closed his brown eyes tightly and squeezed his hands in fists until his knuckles went white. "Uh, s-so." Toby ticked "Boss man assigned both of us a m-m-mission, and I was g-gonna tell you that I am r-really excited because I t-think you are really...u-uh... c-c-cool." Wow the boy really ticked worse when he was nervous. But I didn't understand his compliment. Sure, it was nice or whatever, but I knew what he said wasn't really what he was getting at. That wouldn't be nerve-wrecking to say, would it? Nah.

I was about to ask Toby what he meant, but he answered the question before I could speak. "Uh... I-its like u-undercover, IDK what that means." Oh my god he just said IDK out loud. "But i-it's back in m-my hometown and I -uh- am glad you will be there cuz y-you make me f-f-feel s-safer." I was about to make a snarky comment about how cheezy it was, but something stopped me. I was kind of, flattered. I didn't really know what to say, so I did the dumb thing I always do when I am embarrassed. "Wow you are a pansy, huh." I kind of regretted that comment, but I wasn't about to tell Toby that.

Toby looked hurt, but he quickly covered it up with an awkward laugh, scratching the back of his head. "Uh, yea I g-guess." He choked. "We l-leave tomorrow at like ten AM, but Slendy wanted to see us super early for s-some reason." I looked at my friend with a sceptical expression. "Why's that? We don't need briefings anymore." I said. Toby nodded in agreement. "N-no we don't but maybe it has something to do with the undercover part?" He said.

I shrugged my shoulders as if to say maybe and sank further into my pillow. "I'm tired. You woke me up." I said in a deadpan voice. Toby apologized under his breath and stood up to leave, his head hanging down towards the floor. I couldn't help it, a small guilt tugged at my chest. "Hey Toby?" I said. Toby turned his head and raised one eyebrow at me. "Thanks for telling me that." -Toby let himself smile just a little bit. "Yea. S-see you in the morning." He replied.

*Time skip*

"Jackie, hey Jack." Toby's high voice faded into my counciusness. He was shaking me awake. I almost slapped him, but I remembered the conversation we had the night before and stopped myself.  "Whaat." I growled. "It's time to wake up." Toby said, "We gotta meet Slendy right now." I groaned and rolled over in my bed. My back was stiff and I couldn't will myself to sit up. "Too tired." I responded groggily. Toby gave a small laugh and ruffled my hair, an action which earned him a weak slap. "I get it, but we g-g-got to go, or Boss Man won't be happy." I groaned loudly into my pillow, but I knew Toby was right. I forced myself to sit up and rubbed the edges of my mouth.  "Okay. Now leave so I can change." Toby nodded and started to leave. "Oh, and S-Slendy said he wants us to w-wear regular clothes." I was too tired to ask Toby why, so I just waved him out of my room.
