Kendall smiled as she watched while her best friend and the Alpha heir, Samuel Knots walked to the brunette who stood a few feet away from them.

"Mate," her sweet voice confirmed their obvious bond, and she found herself stare with a longing as they smiled at each other shyly, before they walked away, leaving her behind to stand alone.

The crowd around them cheered and hooted, some even whistled, making the brunette, who's name Kendall was yet to know, blush even more than before while Samuel looked as if he had found himself a treasure. Which, in some twisted way, was the truth.

To a wolf, their mates have always meant so much more than just a treasure chest. They are their lifeline, the one who balances them out. Basically, their other half, the one who completes them in every single way possible and complements not just their human side but their wolf too.

If it not for mates, short for soulmates, werewolves would never be sane. In fact, the human side of them would've had disappeared long time back itself.

"Ava Breeze," a voice intruded her train of thoughts, making Kendall jump in surprise. Jonathan only sent a sweet smile, not feeling sorry for Kendall in any way before he turns his eyes to follow his older twin, who now stood a bit farther away from the crowd, with his newly found mate.

"I can't wait him to go all protective over her," Jonathan murmured as he took a swig of his beer and Kendall chuckled at that very thought. It was an inside joke amongst them about how 'protective' Samuel gets, not sparing his own twin who would grumble about it all the time.

"I think it will be him, who would need the protection now," she said, as they watched Samuel bend down and whisper something into Ava's ears. It was to low for even them, with their enhanced hearing, to hear.

Being a werewolf had its own perks. Apart from the very fact that none, even the weakest of all wolves included, could ever be overweight – they had better senses than their human counterparts with enhanced hearing, good nose and sharp vision. All of it really worked in their favour in their wolf form and in some ways, even in their human form.

Though in their human form, even they can't see everything, with their 'better' night vision – they still are usually, able to make out clear outlines of almost everything.

Her eyes moved from one twin to the one standing next to her.

"Where's your mate?" she asked him, only to receive a nonchalant shrug and a 'must be there, somewhere' as a reply.

She scoffed. If she hadn't known the twins as well as she knew, she would've readily bought the reply and the nonchalance that came with it. But that's the whole point. She knew the Alpha twins way better than most members of their pack did and so it almost seemed ridiculous to watch Jonathan as if it didn't really matter to him where his mate exactly was, or more specifically, as if he had no idea where she exactly was right now.

The longing in his eyes was clear as daylight, and Kendall frowned as she turned her head and took a glance around them, hoping to catch a glimpse of the fiery red hair head, that was always too bright to not notice.

Though Jonathan and Samuels are twins, their personalities are poles apart.

Samuel is exactly the kind of guy who enjoyed being in control all the time, who would be worrying all the time, and Jonathan is the laid back one. The brothers balance each other well, especially in those moments when Samuel tends to go crazy with his worries. Their distinct personalities worked in pack's favour too, since Samuel being the next Alpha heir would need an advisor, Jonathan is the perfect candidate with his ever so observant eyes and his cool personality that makes it easy for the pack members to approach him while Samuel is one who is good at handling strategies, getting all papers up to date and maintaining diplomatic relations.
