Helen  Mare looked around the classroom, slowly switching her view in all directions. Her friends were beside her, trying to make a bong out of a pencil sharpener. Dumbasses. The teacher's desk was empty, with a rotting apple sticking to the wooden surface. She scratched the side of her white knee sock and  weaved her way through the other uniformed student.

"Almost got it!" Stevie said, trying to light  the pencil sharpener.

"Can you stop it..." Marie said, rolling her eyes at her friend, "You're gonna burn this fucking school down."

"Well that wouldn't be so bad." Helen sighed, slumping down in her seat and taking the lighter from Stevie, "I'm gonna go out for a puff"

"But u just got here" Stevie croaked.

"This place is so fucking boring, I need to get out before Ms D starts asking about our weekends." She stood up and was about to walk out when a snivelly ginger haired girl stopped her.

"Hey Perrie, what's up?" Helen said, rubbing her nose and leaning on her right leg.

Perrie nervously smoothed out her pleated blue-green skirt, wiping her sweaty hands on the cheap fabric. She shifted her eyes around as if a fly was buzzing in her face.

"Seriously what do you want..." Helen started getting impatient, waiting for this pissy girl to open her chapped mouth and say something.

"Oh uhh...well-you know-'cause we are the -gulp- classss leaderss ...we need to g-go to the office to meet our new teacher."

"What happened to Ms D?" Helen looked back at her friends, ignoring Perrie.

"She suddenly needed to find herself over the weekend so... she's in Thailand now" Stevie said, picking at a scab on her elbow. Teachers disappearing wasn't new in this school. I guess everyone fucking wants to leave this shithole school Helen thought.

"Okay well thats great...well Im out for a puff, you get the teacher." Helen pushed past Perrie and bolted out the door.

Helen leaned against a random car and lit her smoke, squinting her eyes up at the sky. It was actually blue for once.  She blew out the smoke tilted her head onto the hot metal of the car. It felt warm against the back of her skull.   I need to leave this place...she thought. Toronto was great but her boring life at school was becoming too ordinary for her.  "Something extraordinary needs to happen to me..."she murmured out loud.  Helen felt a need to be different than the others. Now everyone has pressure to do well in school, everyone has unrequited love, and  everyone is unique in the same way.  Life is too boring, too predictable. "Too hot" she groaned, lifting her burning head from the car door.  She dropped her cigarette and smushed it under the toe of her white sneaker and went back inside.

The class was still rowdy when she got back in.  Kieren, Eddie, and Paulie were wolf-whistling at her as she walked by, tugging the ends of her skirt. Those dumbasses have been chasing after Helen since grade school. She just tsked at them and sat by her friends.

Soon after,  Principal Belawa strode in, stroking his thick mustache. He was dressed in one of  his unusually colourful suits. This time it was electric blue with sunshine yellow accents. He walked slowly to the front of the classroom, stopping at the middle, and then he stared at the kids; his eyes darting to all of the corners of the classroom. He peeled his lips apart and in a thick West African accent began:

"As some of you may know...Mrs. Delaware...has left the school", Principal Belawa liked to take deep pauses when he spoke, "She has gone...to Thailand." A few students gasped, some cheered, Helen just rolled her eyes. Old news, she thought.

"And so..." Principal Belawa waited for the class to settle down, "We have a new teacher stepping in...Mr. Harington."

At that moment, a young man strolled in, Helen's eyes widened; her mouth was ajar. He was the most beautiful creature she ever laid eyes on. It was as if there was a divine light shining around his longish curly black hair, his black eyes glinted with a bright twinkle in the corners even under the harsh glare of the yellow classroom lights. He looked fresh and smart, sexy and mysterious. His skin glowed not with sweat but as if he had just taken a dip into a  pool of crystal blue water. He was dressed in black trousers and a fitted light blue button-up shirt in which the sleeves were rolled up to his elbows; it suited him so well.

Helen wanted to bang her head on the wall and scream, this man looked so perfect but she managed to keep her composure, put on a bored face, and close her mouth.

Adonis--Mr. Harington opened his mouth to speak...
