Cross Country

|prologue|

The two small babies sat together on a blanket, gurgling. Their two families were cooing over them, coddling them. The young girl picked herself up and crawled closer to her friend. She grabbed at his hand shoving his fingers in her mouth. A flash came as the mothers sighed in content. The boy let out a loud laugh, scaring the baby girl. She smiled back at him and clapped her tiny hands.

The small girl ran after the older boy, giggling.

"Mikey!" she yelled when they rounded a corner. He turned back at Alice, smiling widely. His small feet couldn't carry him much farther as he ran into a wall. Michael fell back and Alice caught up. She took one look at him and laughed harder than she had all day. They were at their shared birthday party since their birthdays were only a week apart. Michael had just turned seven and in a few days so would Alice. The party would be ending soon but all that meant to the two friends was cake.

"Come on Mikey, cake soon!' Alice exclaimed. She held her hand towards Michael to help him. Once they stood and Michael brushed off his pants, he bolted forward yelling behind him, "Race you there!"

"Look at her massive nose, isn't it ginormous Michael?" Jack sneered. He turned back to his friend waiting for an answer. Michael stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do.

"Uh yea, it's massive mate. Surprised it's bigger than her forehead actually." Michael stuttered. He knew what he was doing was wrong but his friends were important to him. Tears arose in Alice's eyes. She bit down on her lip to keep them from showing.

"Hey Alice, nice glasses. Didn't know Urkle lent them out to people." Michael laughed and continued walking. Alice wasn't sure when her best friend became the person she dreaded to see.

"Thanks Michael, didn't know pink hair was in right now for guys too." She smirked back. Michael stopped in his tracks and turned around.

"Excuse you?"

"I think you heard me asshole."

This is pretty much to show how their friendship changed over time and act as kind of a prologue I guess idk. but it's been awhile since I've written something so bear with me please (⌒▽⌒)
